I've done some research but expert opinions are always appreciated. I'm probably an intermediate rider and currently ride an 07 HL Era 137 (finless) with LF Transits. Its ok, don't love it or hate it, but I think I'm gonna go with a flex board and pretty sure it will be a SS. The Era has a "subtle" 3 stage and I definately don't want to ride a board that would be any slower. I ride almost exclusively behind my 01 SAN 210 with a nice vert wake and only a day or two at the cable park per year.

I've heard and read good things about all the SS boards. I have no opportunities to demo and I think I'm leaning towards the 09 Reflex. They describe it as a rail board which I do a little of, but it will be a wake board and I've heard its just as good behind the boat. I'm looking for a good, consistent pop without a ton of effort and a board that's loose and fairly quick. I'm 6'0 160 so I think I will size up to a 141/142. So I guess for anyone that has ridden multiple slingshot models do you think I'm leaning towards the right board or not and why?

I'll also probably go with some D3's. Love the look of the PB Floyds but the the D3 is a stiffer boot and has quite a bit more support if I'm not mistaken? Thanks for the input!

I have a 142 Recoil with PB's and a Reflex 141 with PB's. I'm the opposite of you and like a little less support. I like the Reflex a bit better b/c it's not as stiff and lands a bit softer. I think you will be happy with any SS board.

The Recoil will be slower than your ERA. I'm 160lbs and ride a 142 and it doesn't feel big at all.

Either board should ride fine, and you can always round your edges to make it slower... but I would go at least 1 size bigger than your Era was....

I ride a older SAN too and love love love the recoil, but I've never tried the reflex

I've ridden all three but they have all been at the cable. My favorite was the Recoil. It had the most pop on ollies, three stage DUH, the most flex, at least I thought so, and it did not feel slow at all. But like the rest of the guys said any would be a great board. I would stick to the response or recoil if its going to be a boat only board. Recoil=three stage huge pop, Response=continuous, fast but still poppy. I will say that I don't like the bindings as much as LF's though. The PB's are MUCH more comfortable than the D's and a lot less hassle to get in and out of.

So for those that have ridden the reflex and another slingshot board, do you think it rides behind a boat like one would think from the description of a hybrid 3 stage? As in a little more pop but a little slower than the response and a little less pop but a little faster than the recoil?

Looks like you bought the same set up as me. You will love it every one that has jumped on my board don't want to ride there board any more. I have 5 people right now riding my board when I get out.

The difference between the Reflex, the Recoil and the Response...

Recoil - Stiffer, abrupt 3 stage 2.7 rocker. Stiff in the center, flexy in the tip and tail. Our most aggressive board.

Reflex - Stiff in the center, real soft in the tip and tail. Mellow subtle 3 stage 2.6 rocker. The board will be a little quicker than the Recoil and ride smoother like a continuous rocker board but with a kick at the top of the wake from the subtle 3 stage rocker.

Response - Fast and smooth. I personally love this board! Because it flexes it still gives you a little kick feeling at the top of the wake. Lands super soft. Real flexy, mellow and fun.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions
