I am looking at a 2008 Supra sunsport 22v and they are asking 47000 for it. It is a demo boat with about 40 hours on it. The upgraded the tower speakers with wetsounds also. Is this a good deal?

If it is a demo boat, and the end of the season, with a bad economy, I would say you could get it way cheaper than that. Shoot for the stars, you never know what they might take for it.

I just saw a post from a guy on the supra forums who picked up his 08 sunsport 22 for 40k with all but the tower speakers, extra amp and sub. I think that's a rare find...but that was a new boat. I think you should be able to get a better deal than that. I paid 53KOTD for my 22SSV in mid-summer of 08 with all but the tower speakers and shower. 47k is too high for a demo in this market.

Depending on the boat options and territory, i would say that is a pretty good deal. remember wetsounds are more expensive than stock. what motor? z5? custom gel, etc. There are a lot of things we are missing, but regardless seems like a good deal. definitely not a bad deal

Somehow I missed the wetsounds info...Diggs makes some good points. I still think you can get a better deal...but, maybe not.

Generally, Demo boats are loaded with options, but that isnt always the case. It's hard to make an estimate without the full list.

Don't know much about Sunsport line, but does the ballast system come standard? I think that would be the deal breaker for me. If so, and it has the Z5, I'd go for it.

Heath, Z5 is like a $1700 option I think?? What is powering the Wetsounds? Subs?

Cody, Ballast will be standard I am sure on that boat.

All the manufacturers are having price increases next year too from what I have been hearing, so some of these deals are going to sound better and better once you price them next to a new one.

Caleb, agreed typically demao boats are loaded with options.....a sunsport is the next line below the launch series. They are traditionally cheaper in price. Not that it matters in resale, but I've got roughly $1500 in gel coat upgrade coptions on my 22. If it's got the z-5 top and the 340, I think it's a good deal.

I'm with Diggs, I think the market will change in 2010. Production has been cut. The "crazy" deals will be harder and harder to come by once dealers move off all the 08's.

I'll sell you my 07 for that price

I'm not by any means an expert on this. Laying that out ahead of time.

I thought it didnt, but Supra's website says the Sunsports come standard with the 1200 pound Gravity III package. So that is a definite plus. Also come standard with the swivel racks. Diggs, 1700 sounds about right for the Z5. It's a VERY useful option if you have a lot of people. It literally fits ANYTHING. The website says it comes standard with a 4 channel Amp, but it doesnt give specifics on the Amp. I'm assuming we are talking about the Threesome package for the Wetsounds?

Loaded with a bit of weight and the sunsport has a sick wake. The shop I ride for used a 22 Sunsport as our demo boat and it had serious boot. If you end up buying it, shoot me an email and I will hook you up with a man who can tell you the Ballast configuration he ran on that boat int he tournaments we pulled with it.

One thing to keep in mind is the Sunsport doesn't have the playpen bow so your options to upgrade the front ballast are probably limited. With the playpen bow in the Launch boats you can switch out the 650 lb front sack and replace it with the 1180 lb GG flyhigh sack and still use the stock plumbing. Other then that I don't see any downsides to this...

Heath,
I have the 22 sunsport 08 and I love the wake. The only other boat that I have ridden that I liked better was an 07 210 air nautique because it just shoots you up. But the Supra throws a pretty darn good wake. As for the walk through I usually just leave it open, but If I don't have a lot of people with me I throw another 400 lb bag up there and I have 2 750's in back. I think the wake is pretty money like that, but would be better with a little more weight in the bow. I'd say get it even though there are little things that could have made the boat a bit better. Hope this helps.

Heath the boat looks really nice. Given what the state of the economy is in and that its 2 years old and its the end of the season i'd think you should be able to trim alittle more off the 47K. Still sounds like a good deal even if he wont go any lower though..

well I am trying to get him down to 45. I hope he takes it.

Well I don't know how boats sell in Alabama at the end of the year but if he doesn't take it wait until january and try again. And I would shoot for 43k. Can you ride though the winter or do you have to winterize?
Old     (sidetracked3)      Join Date: Jun 2009       10-27-2009, 11:54 AM Reply
we have to winterize down here. It gets pretty cold. I am trying to get this done before I have to winterize my boat so I do not have to pay to do it twice. I am still waiting on the guys answer though.
