used to ride a substnace... loved the feel, all but the landings anyways... kinda want something that can lock in tight but is still playable... currently ride the witness w/grind base, and is a little too loose for me. I'm an LF fan and narrowed it down to the two... I plan on demoing both but your opinions will help for sure :-) Thank you!

i like a really loose board. and the lyman is pretty loose. its locked in when ever i want it to be. but i can kick it out side ways on the water with out even thinking. ive ridden quite a few LF boards. and i love the lyman.

i know you want the lyman or S4

but the watson is great. with the ffins its a tank. but you pull the center one out and its great

what size are you going to get. I'll be getting a Lyman 138/ and a S4 138. I'm going to sell the one I don't want much cheaper that new. I ordered them today.

If you are a substance rider, the S4 will basically be a substance on steroids. The Lyman will have less pop than your substance, but will be way faster and land smoother. I say go for the POP and the S4

If you thought the Witness was too lose then I don't think the Lyman will be the board for you.

On edge it has a nice grip but when flat it butters, as David said it'll kick around really easily even with the quad fin set up.

Ive been riding an s4 for about two weeks now and the board is sick. I used to ride a watson ltd and now I go back to it and it felt like it had no pop compared to the s4. If you like the locked down feel then the s4 is a good board for you because it is a little more locked down than a watson but playable. The landing are super soft and the board is really fast. I rode a lynman and it felt kinda like a rome board it was so loose.
