One side of one of the axles had the torsion go out. This caused the tire to rub the fender. I have a new axle and fender on the way. Took the fender off to take the boat to the lake (boat ramp is two miles away) but the tire went up further and now rubs the welded triangle step in front of the tire. We've moved the wheel on the spline but that didn't help. My problem is this, I have family coming this weekend that I haven't seen in years. My axle is not supposed to be in until they leave. Would you consider removing the tire that is rubbing and tow it 2 miles?
I'd do it. It's only 2 miles, and unless your boat's loaded with lead, the trailer can handle it. Besides, that wheel hasn't been doing anything for you since it broke anyway.
Be careful not to overload the torsion system on the other axle by putting the entire weight of the boat on the remaining axle. I would try put the "bad axle" in a static position with at least some of the weight on it.... Just my two cents.
You could always put a block of wood in there between the swing arm(??) and trailer frame for a temp fix. No suspension travel like this, but it will support some of the weight.
