Got lucky and met a really cool group from Ohio while down at Norris Lake and got a couple of pulls behind the G23 they were on. My friend got a shot of what is now the biggest raley I've ever thrown...stoked about having a nice pic of it!

Thanks for all the positive feedback! Much appreciated!!!

Was a huge stoke day for me, rode this set behind the G23 just a few hours before riding behind the X-Star used on Pro Tour at a competition in Knoxville. One of the best days of my life, to be honest haha

Is it just Me or does that G23 have one tall tower?

It actually does have a pretty tall tower. When I rode it the first time it felt as if it was pulling my upward more. It's so much boat that once it starts running on plane there's a lot more boat above the surface, too.

You are a champion sir, everyone is mentioning how their knees feel, but what I want to know is could you walk the next day? lol
Old     (holdsworth)      Join Date: Jan 2010       07-30-2013, 2:37 PM Reply
Haha, my knees are doing pretty good and I was able to walk. Not very well because I drove the 8 hours home right after the competition so between riding both boats and the drive, I was done!

G23 - 13 adults, 1/2 ballast full (I think only half... 7/8 wasn't letting us get on plane), NCRS set at 3, speed at 24mph, rope at 80ft. Wanted a more mellow shape, so I left the NCRS alone instead of play around with it, which I'll get other chances to change it around. Huge wake, really nice shape for both the bottom end and the top end, steepened up quicker than my normal liking, but once I got used to it, I really liked it a lot. Little bit of a boot off the top, but not enough to make me feel out of control. Every hit was consistent, timing was my only issue since I had so much more time for each trick. Can't wait to get behind one again!

X-Star - Not sure on weight setup besides full ballast, some lead, and 4-5 adults. Rope at 80ft, speed was 24.5mph (I asked for 24mph so I'm not sure if cruise was off a little or if driver put me there based on knowledge). The wake was awesome, I loved it. It seemed to be about the same shape as mine (2004 X-Star) when I have it fully loaded and a little bow heavy, just about 30% bigger. Smooth on the bottom, nice transition up, tall, and it was slightly lippy on top. Normally I don't like a lip on it but it was at a perfect point to where it didn't bother me a bit. Only got a down-and-back pass on it, so I definitely need more time behind it and in it to really get a feel for it, but based on what I was on, that's what I got. I'll be riding behind the new X-Star regularly (around classes and such)... I'm interested to see how it is once we play around with it.

And I'm hoping for a picture comparison...I threw a 911 in competition that felt pretty tall, so I'm anxiously waiting to see if that picture emerges somewhere.

Dang! I'd be blowin that picture up, framing it and hangin it over my fireplace mantel. Oh to be young again... A word of old man advice: enjoy those knees while you have them. Just don't forget they have a shelf life.

Adam, that's my buddy Dave's boat you took a set behind. I had another friend show me that pic this Monday......and you're right super cool dude. That is an awesome shot.

For the technically challenged - my post was sarcastic and definitely photoshopped (the 2nd one). The first was so huge it just makes the second one look almost real

Paul, Thanks man!!! Yeah, Dave was really cool, and so was everyone else in his group. I had a blast with them when we were out, I'd like to get together with all of them again. One of the girls even graduated from my high school which was pretty crazy, it's a small school/community. Small world!

pprior haha you're good bro! That photoshopped pic is awesome, I saved it on my phone.
