I have a 2009 Sanger 215 and noticed fuel consumption seems bad. Do the mercruisers have air filters if so where?

They typically have flame arrestors that you can take off and wash.

What kind of consumption are you experiencing (weighted and/or unweighted)?

If you have the Scorpion engine there is just the metal disks of the flame arrestor just before the throttle. Not much there that will affect fuel use. It's more likely the speeds you are driving although 300# will drop your economy, especially if you are starting and stopping a lot. Surfing, of course, kills your economy.
Over the long term changing the plugs matters but that's over a couple hundred hours.

the metal screen above the carb or throttle body, they get dirty, ur boat will run like shiz. get some carb cleaner, or an airhose and clean that bad boy up. u would be suprised what a dif it will make.

Andy, are you talking about the oval shape steal screen infront of the engine?

Guys, How do you get the spark arrestor off the engine to give it a good cleaning? Disconnected one hose and a connector, but it wont seem to come loose. Hoping I dont have to remove the whole throttle body. Advice?

BTW, my spark arrestor is VERY dirty! The bottom was the worst (I was able to spin it around...)

Update, posted too quickly. Dah, there's a 7/16" nut in the center to easily remove the spark arrestor. Nice and clean now :-)
