So as the end of the summer starts to wind down, my thoughts start to switch to snowboarding. Yesterday I booked my trip to Steamboat for Musicfest. So the point of my post. I've been looking at getting a new snowboard and retiring my old one. Before I turn it into a bench for the back deck, I was wondering what would happen if I mounted some old Hyerlite bindings to it and tried to wakeboard with it. Anyone ever done this? I mean it should work right? Just though I'd ask. (Message edited by kyp12 on August 27, 2009)

It's possible. I think I remember seeing a pic of Chase Heavener riding a snowboard a LONG time ago (7-8 years ago). Regardless, it's possible and I imagine it'd be somewhat similar to riding a Roam. Careful on the grabbed tricks, snowboard edges could suck without having those snow gloves on.

i dont snowboard, but i dont think it would work to well. the rocker shape is different. its just the tip and tail that are curved up right? and they have way more flex then even a roam right? you should try it though. worst thing that happens is you dont get up or fall

I think snowboards are too narrow. Your toes and heels will be dragging in the water.

I have sort of done it... Where I snowboard there is an event once a year where you ride across a pool of water. There was no line pulling me but I could get across it. You should try it and see how much control you have.

I've heard of people riding, rocks, boards, paddles, etc so I'm sure it can be done. The question is, will it be any fun?

I've done it, used my old burton supermodel and clicker boots. It wasn't much fun. Tried it out on a glassy day, and the thing bends so much you just plow into the water and go down. I made it outside of the wake, but you really have to lean hard to keep the nose up. Wet noodle.

Jeff what speed were you going? If it was a normal wakeboard speed like 24mph do you think it would be a little more possible if you were going faster like 30mph?

Yeah we were going like 21-22ish. It probably would firm up a little if going faster. I just lost interest pretty quick.

I've seen a kid get up on a skateboard deck. If that worked a snowboard is definitely possible

Yah I didn't know if it was worth the effort with how flexible the board was. While in theory it shouldn't be much different than riding a roam, in real life I figured it would be a lot different. Well since I'm turning it into a bench anyways, I figure it's worth a shot.
