It's the exact same boat, just different gel and standard options.

I have an 08 220V with most of the standard options that a B52 has except sub-woofer - great boat. In a lot of cases the difference is the styling/scheme in the gel coat - classic lines vs tribal pattern. My 08 has a 45 gal tank, 343HP PCM, 1800lbs of pumped ballast (wish MB had introduced the Pure Vert System as year earlier). There can be differences in the Skylon Towers - how they fold down / design on board racks etc...

The '08 has about 3" taller free-board, shorter engine hatch, better ballast pumps, a mild engine upgrade, different tower, and different rear hull design from the '05. There are basically rolling changes every year from '04 to '10 on that boat.

95%. The newest version has "built in trim tabs." At least that is the easiest way to describe it.

Alan-
This built in trim tab is not present in my 09 Tomcat. Is this "feature" only on the 220V?

Specific to the 220V. It is not really a "trim tab", but it does have a slight bit of "hook" in it. No your 09 Tomcat does not have it. It was really just a mild redesign to assist the boat in getting on plane faster. It also gives the stern a little extra "lift" at higher speeds, which actually make the 22'er a decent slalom boat at speeds over 30 mph.

We have an 03 220V and for a first time boat owner I'd have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. I'm not really sure how the 05 is any different then the 03, Alan could you give me a little run down?

As far as I can remember, the only differences between 03 and 05 is that the spray pockets are removed. Oh and I think the ballast pump system was re-engineered.

Why does my 03 have spray pockets and newer models don't? What was the purpose of the spray pocket?
Thanks,

I don't know what exactly the purpose of spray pockets were, but they have been noted for causing spray that washes out the wake I believe.

They definitely cause a bit of a notch in the wakeboard wake. What is interesting to me is that the best hulls from MC and CC have them.

Is the '02 the same bottom other than the splash pockets being taken away?

2007 was the first year that has the extended hull surface.
2004 was the first year that the spray pockets were eliminated

Most of the skiers that I took out in the '07 and later were very impressed with the wake at slalom speeds, for a 22' v-drive. No, I can't comment on pre-'07 or pre-'04 because I just can't remember.
For anyone else reading this thread, everything above only pertains to the 220 or B-52 hull. Not the 230v, B-52 V23, B-52v 21 TWB, F21 Tomcat, or F23 Tomcat.
