hey folks,

My parents just moved to a house on the Arkansas river in Maumelle (across from LR), and I am planning to road trip with my Nautique from Wisconsin to ride in the warm southern air. I'm planning to be there from May 1st to 6th, but with all the rain, I'm wondering if there will be many safe areas to ride? I know that the Little Maumelle should still be safe, and also the channel my parents live in, but we were hoping to be able to head out to some other local spots for some variety. Now, with all the rain, I am afraid all the spot will be no-wake or unusable.

Does anyone in the area know if anything is still open?

Thanks,

Brian

You can still use Greers Ferry Lake. It is about an hour and a half from there. The water is high but not a problem.

Really? That's great because Greer's Ferry was #1 on my list of places to hit. It's just a clear, beautiful lake. What's the water temp these days? Over 50 yet?

Yea definetly over 50. I surfed Sunday but my friend's perfect pass wouldn't pick up the temp. but I would guess it was around 60. I wore a shorty wet suit and it was only cold the first time I fell.

Lake Ouachita is about an hour and a half from Little Rock as well. It is a huge beautiful lake. Water temp was 59 last time I checked. We have been riding with heater shirts no problem for the past 3 weeks.

No wakeboarding in lake Maumelle, no motor's alloud.

Arkansas river is fair game though, and Ouchita is open to the world.
