Have any of you used these? It's time for bunk replacement on my trailer and I came across the PVC ones. Are they any good? What have you used? I'll attach a link to a company selling them.

composite stuff? would last a lot longer than wool. George Washington's teeth were made of wool.

Just dont make any emergency menuvers after loading the wet boat on the wet boards of the trailer.
Better strap it down in several places.

you can easily slide your boat off the trailer if you like to launch totally untied. I have seen it happen. wet boat pulling out without straps flying off the trailer.

Wood is a lot stronger and stiffer for the same dimensions. That may not be a problem if the composite board is supported over shorter spans. Normally if you support a 2x4 every 3' you would support a composite 2x4 every 2'.
There used to be a company that made pvc bunk caps to replace your carpet. Now there is one that sells bunk wraps. Those may trap water on top of the wood though.

I wonder if George had any problems eating mutton with those teeth.

The ones that company sells have aluminum supports under them. So I'm not really worried about strength. I'm more interested in if they work well without scratching the boat. Granted carpet scuffs the boat as well but is PVC the same, better or worse?
