Robert... can you give us an update? How many have RSVP'd? Any board makers stepping up to the plate and offering some boards to demo???

Also can you give me an idea what to expect for water temperature....

My buddy and I have booked a hotel in Chico and a rental car from Sac airport. Just waiting to make sure this is all going to come together before dropping 300 on a non refundable plane ticket..

Robert, I saw you claimed you could out eat anyone when it comes to pizza. If I come, I'll try to bring my brother. He just slimmed down to 220, but he will likely be 230+ by Nov 14. He has killed a 20X20 at in-n-out. 20 burger patties, 20 slices of cheese.
Old     (notsobueno)      Join Date: Dec 2004       10-28-2009, 9:34 AM Reply
I made the pizza claim. I weigh 185.

Old     (bigcatpt)      Join Date: Aug 2007       10-28-2009, 11:15 AM Reply
I'm looking forward to eating some good pizza with you guys. But there will be no contest for me. I used to be 300+ and now down to 250 and proud of it. Its those pizza eating contests that get me back too far north of 250. But I am sure I can still eat my share....

Are people planning on staying and surfing on Sunday as well????
Old     (ragboy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       10-28-2009, 10:57 PM Reply
y, and I couldn't imagine how much it would cost me to do a pizza eating contest with all you big guys. ;-) Not to say it wouldn't be fun. If people are staying on Sunday, I will have my boat out, but unless we have this incredible weather, probably going to want to be warm and indoors on Sunday!

i will stay up there both days with my boat also as long as anyone would want to surf .... i don't have a heater on my boat but i do have a hot water shower that we have never tried

Robert-Are you gonna park your trailer at your warehouse?

Work is not going to good,so I'm not to sure about getting a hotel room.Unless I could split a room with someone.....

DTW...my bad. At 185...that's impressive.

Looks like I got approval from the boss, so I will be there with my 06 Tige 22V. It also has a hot shower, altough everytime I've tried, it only puts out scalding hot water.

@gunz

Yes, the guys from PROPs are going to use it, but there are 3 beds. A queen bed in the front, a pull out sofa, and a convertible table to a bed. So that is 3 places and more if someone wants to spoon.

No problem, I will have it there and clean.

I am 6'6" and you can see the wake is at my thigh level. Also, both pics are with only 2 people in the boat (230lb brother driving w/ 120lb wife in the rear). We've never had it fully sac'd out. We do have swimplatform issues though.

Looks like we are going to have at least 7-8 boards from 5-6 manufacturers specifically for bigger riders. I just checked with the lake, water is 62 deg today. Dude, its going to be cold.

needles cold .... but doable ( did i say that? ) .... ill be bringing the surfing wetsuit just in case .... or maybe find a drysuit, yea that sounds better

James, isn't that and 05? That is what i got with 700# in both back lockers(only use one at a time, dark side or reg)and a 440# on floor all the way back, and 440# in front walkway. So 1600# taps at about 4 speed -+9.5 and wake looks alot like that with just a driver. I love it, nice wake without a ton of ballast.
What is your setup?
Old     (slimjim44)      Join Date: Feb 2009       11-02-2009, 10:27 AM Reply
It could be an 05. It's my stepdad's. We have the stock ballast (I think like 150# up front, 350# in rear) which we fill on surfside only, plus about 400# in the rear locker, so about 900# total. We have taps at 5-6, speed at 10.5-10.7.

So far so good guys. Temp in the high 60s and no rain. Would be great to have some sun and temp in the 70s.

So far we have about 12 guys coming and a bunch of boards from several manufacturers, 3 boats, and a huge party barge, and pizza on wake9 at woodstocks. Can't wait.

Anybody out there know of a company that sells or rents dry suits that would like to help sponsor this event? We need a few big guy dry suits and I will gladly give them a large logo and credit on the page we use to display this event, and also a slug at the front of the video.
Old    surfdad            11-03-2009, 11:20 AM Reply
Is there a local dive shop up your way Robert? They should have drysuits for rent. Sounds like you folks are going to have a blast!

i just ran a thread robert under boats accessories about where to find drysuits .... people gave a few good links .... adrenaline ... wakezone .... i would try either of those 2 .... the post has run a few days and good response
Old     (dennish)      Join Date: May 2005       11-03-2009, 11:28 AM Reply
Dry suits??? We don't need no stinking dry suits. Most of us big guys have plenty of extra insulation to not need a drysuit. I do have a drysuit and 2 wetsuits that will fit most big guys.

i will be buying 1 today also .... and 1 for the kids .... sounds like they ship asap so should have at least 1 xl and 1 L or M

thats what i say dennis .... spent 3 of the last 4 days in the delta water and actually swam around after surfing ....
Old     (dennish)      Join Date: May 2005       11-03-2009, 11:34 AM Reply
A better alternative to drysuits are the new wetsuits. They keep you very dry and work for just about any conditions we have here in Nor Cal. Much more flexible than drysuits. Body Glove Vapor run about 359. on Amazon for example. I haven't ridden in a drysuit in a couple of years and don't miss it at all.
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 11:37 AM Reply
so you like those alot better? i had a drysuit years and years ago .... so you think i would be better off with one of those in your opinion?
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 11:38 AM Reply
can you change rider to rider also? forgot to ask that one without wet being an issue?
Old     (ragboy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       11-03-2009, 11:41 AM Reply
That is why I was thinking dry suit. With wetsuit, not so fun going from rider to rider. A dry suit can be easily changed from rider to rider. I do have a local dive shop, will drive down there today.

My daughter prefers her wetsuit to the drysuit.

Frank, I have a wetsuit that fits RJ, Whitney, Ashley, and an O'Neill boost dry suit that fits them also. Just got it. Its funny, I placed the order, it was on back order and so I told amy to cancel it. She forgot, and it showed up yesterday. So if you want to try for them before you buy, NP.
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 12:05 PM Reply
maybe my 3 girls would like wetsuits over drysuits too but since they have their minds set on wearing sweats under a drysuit and they have yet to try a drysuit im stuck into drysuit for them ....
that would be great to let christopher try the drysuit then he can know for sure what he thinks is better
im pyched about the lead dennis .... check out my wake under nov thread .... chris's picture was just with the 1540 in the rear locker .... my pic was the added 700 on the seat with the front 500 filled .... it was huge!! i gotta believe the lead under the 1540 making 2150 will throw a beast of a wave!!
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 12:11 PM Reply
adding the lead and another 500 in the front you may have a line up size wave in the back LOL

I have been following this thread and the November picture thread and posted in the wrong place.

I have been following this thread and Mitch at CMS talked me into signing up. Since then it is all I can think about. I will bring my IS Red Tide and IS Swallow. I just picked up the Swallow and have only ridden it once. It was fun. I am looking forward to seeing other boards and other set ups. There is so much knowledge about wakesurfing going I am looking forward to learning as much as I can. Thanks to all those who are setting this up.

Looking forward to having you, and meeting you. This wakesurfing community is for the most part a great bunch of guys, I am sure you will have a good time, and I think this will end up being something we do again, and make a good memory.

I went looking for wetsuits today. A fat guy putting on a wetsuit is not pretty. And taking it off may be worst. I tried a 3/2 and 4/3. I think I should be fine with the thinner one. Any help or suggestion would be great.
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-04-2009, 6:32 PM Reply
the 3/2 should be plenty .... you will be mobile and warm in it
Old     (ragboy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       11-04-2009, 6:36 PM Reply
y, the 3/2 should be fine. So question to those attending: are all of you going to be covered as far as wetsuits go? I want to make sure we aren't going to have a bad memory, like someone getting hypothermia.

What is the water temp looking like it is going to be? I was planning on a rash guard only. That worked fine in April when the water was low 60s. I was planning on bring lots of warm clothes for when I get out of the water though.

went out yesterday afternoon and i was in the water for a good hour straight with no wetsuit .... it was cold and windy .... i was in the boat for another 1/2 hr while chris pulled off his first complete 360's and got pretty chilled with no sweatshirt .... have no idea what the water temp was .... was practicing my own 360's which im finding difficult because of not being able to be on the back of the board .... i was getting around 270s but that was it .... using the red woody .... faster feet needed to get back to the back of the board to get front of board up
Old     (wakemitch)      Join Date: Jun 2005       11-05-2009, 9:42 AM Reply
frank, whats your review of the red woody? is it doing what you thought it would?
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-05-2009, 9:49 AM Reply
the red woody is alot of fun .... cant get back on the board as far as i would like to .... when i get up front on the board its pretty loose and i can get up and down the wave and slide, it seems to work real well on its edges .... next time out im going to see if i can surf it behind the stock wake on my boat, that would be a cool test .... mitch maybe you can come out sometime this weekend let me know im pretty flexible here

Frank what do you mean by getting back on the board. I am not very good and have never surfed in the ocean. I find myself moving my back foot forward. When I do that what am I giving up?
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-05-2009, 4:01 PM Reply
if you watch the little surfer guys they all ride the board with their feet all the way back on the board for leverage and drive .... me a big big guy has only been on 1 board yet that i could surf exclusively with my rear foot on the stomp pad and actually could drive the board for speed .... i have to ride the larger middle of the boards moving my back foot up in front of the fins and dont get the drive or leverage i could if i was on or behind the fins .... you can still surf the boards but not to their potential i believe .... you are more then welcome to come out on the boat monday at noon if you can make it

Well, we will have 3 new boards to demo from 3 different manufacturers that took the challenge. We will have several in the 250lb range, but for you, I think 3 have a chance, we will see.

One is some kind of super secret prototype or something. All hush hush. ;-)

Frank I just ordered a wet suite and I am not sure if it will be here by Monday. I would like to try it when it gets here. Where do you launch or keep your boat? I heard you have a Red board from IS. I have one of those and a Swallow I have only ridden once. I will see what happens before Monday. I would like to see Mitch ride.
