Hey guys,

Our family is new to wakesurfing, we had a SN2001 for a while so we surfed once or twice a summer but not much, however at the beginning of the summer we picked up a 07 Supreme v208. We keep it pretty simple, using a Ronix wakeshaper, stock tanks in the rear, often a boat full of people. We've had a great time but we have a few bigger guys in the crew, one around 5' 10" tall, 240 lbs and another about 6' maybe 250 lbs. Are there some boards out there that work better for a big guy? They can both drop the rope right now but you can tell they're burying our current board, which is an almost 10 year old Liquid Force board.

I'd like to find a board to help these guys out, riding behind mostly stock waves. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd go with Chaos Ringer (xl or xxl).

I got mine on a recommendation here. Couldn't be happier.

Micheal,

In the big boy category I would say the weights you mentioned are considered mid weight. I started at 315 and I rode a chaos xxl, it was incredible. I love the board and cant be happier. I have lost some weight and im down to 285 and the feel and movement of the chaos is still incredible. I also got to ride a doomswell stub, 4"10. it was a very loose feeling board. These two boards are completely different style. Chaos is a surf style(IMO), very fast and everyone loves it and doomswells is more of a loose board being more hybrid like a skim. the 4'10 I believe holds up to 275ish for doomswell and I could still ride it.

I am looking forward to this winter probably getting a new board it will be a team pro from chaos. A fun board.

Michael, go with chaos you can have any design or color you want but I would also recommend having a doomswell in your boat as well. you guys will love these two boards. You cant go wrong trusting Nick(chaos) on your board, once I got mine my passion for wake surfing took off.. Also if you want a doomswell go through Nauticurl.com, they have amazing deals on some of the blemished doomswell. You cant tell there is any blemishes on them. Plus he sometimes will put promo codes on here for discounts.

Check out the Brigade Surf Couch, I have one and love the thing its like riding a magic carpet. It's a big board that rides super small very agile and fun to ride for it size, I an ollie the wake on it and spin with out any issue. I also ride the Brigade Stealth 4'10" its like a rocket, it is a bit more work to ride than the Surf Couch but its so fun, the Stealth is my go to board. I am definitely on the bigger side of riders at 6' 3" - 240lb

I bought a 2017 Ronix Koal Classic Fish. Super easy, almost too easy, if that's possible. I'm 5'11" 230 and I love it.

I'm 6'2" and weigh in at about 270. I ride the Skurfer Mako 5'0" and have no issues at all....another great board IMO

Thanks for all the opinions guys, you've given me plenty to look at. Sounds like some of the custom made boards might be a better option. I'll just have to pony up and spend the cash. Thank you everyone!

I use phase 5 trident for the river (shallow water and current makes for smaller wave). On the lake I use chaos pro xl. Both ride very different and are fun for opposite reasons.
