I have a 2009 mastercraft X-14. I have never tried wakesurfing behind it but i was wondering if it is possible with the stock ballast system. Also, what speed should i run.
-Thanks

sorry, i couldnt tell you. I cant find it anywhere on the net or in the manual. I emailed mc and i hope they respond soon. However, i do know that collectively they can only hold 700 lbs

you need to get atleast 1000 pounds on the right side, i have an MCX-45 & MC X-80 i got the X-80 because i wanted a good right side of the wake too.... but on my X-45 i filled up both stock ballast and put another 1000 pounds on the right side of the boat, 750 in the back and 250 in the front.... you will have a killer wake

The X-14 is not in the same league as an X80 (nothing is, really).

That being said, if you add a decent amount of weight in the back and along the side of the boat that you're surfing you should have a nice, clean surf wake that's plenty big for recreational use. Surfing with the stock ballast alone is possible with the right board (I would recommend the Inland Surfer Blue Lake), but once you try it you'll probably want more ballast.

so if i have 410# in ballast in the middle 135# on the right and i have a driver, someone sitting in the bow, and around two people sitting on the back right i should be good then. Right?

You'll need to get out there with your buddies and check it out. Personally I think you will need some extra sacs to get a decent surf wake on that ski hull.

The blue lake is a good beginner board that will fit all sized riders. I have one and it is easy to ride.

gotwakex45, the X14 is a direct drive and comparing to a 45 or 80 makes no sense whatsoever.
