I've got a 07 21v. I have tried to surf a couple of times this spring, but have not been very successful. I am running 650 in the rear surf side and 1180 center sac filled as full as the locker will allow (probably 900-1000). We are using a 5' 4" Ronix Cortez. I have never surfed before, so that is probably part of the problem. It just seems like the wave has no push behing it. I can't seem to get the rope to slack off completely.
Thanks
Jamie

You will need to add a bit more weight towards the rear on the side you are surfing. If your are on the port side put your wake plate all of the way up and try 10-11 mph.

We copied this guys SSV with the extra weight towards the back (except we did it on the port side) and it worked amazing. We used a 750# sac half up on the sundeck and half on the seat.

I have an '09 21v, so slightly different.
I have a 700 lb bag in the locker and then a 400 on the seat placed similarly to the picture above.
My center locker bag is only 750 and I'll put a 400 lb bag in the front pen. Human ballast goes to the surf side.
I have a custom 1300 lb bag on the way from Wakemakers for my locker.

I think the guy in this clip as a 05' 21V. It is the same hull.

Finally got out to work on my surf setup on Tuesday afternoon. I left so quick that I forgot the vest, so not riding, only testing.
10.4MPH
650lbs in port locker
400lbs on top of port locker
900-1000lbs in center locker
250lbs on surf side of bow
140lbs driver
wakeplate 25%
No kids, so My wife and i could enjoy the evening. Can't beat the views at dusk.
Let me know what you think.

2009 21V
Approximately 1700 lbs surf side. 750 lbs center. Speed 11.4, plate at 80%.
I'm first experimenting with skim style - pardon the poor skills. I think I need to slow it down for skim

Looks pretty good. You might not need the weight in the bow. Give it a try without it. A slight left turn will also clean the wake up a bit.

550lbs on rear seats (across the back on portside)
550lbs on port seats
400lbs in center locker
200lbs in port bow (approx)
220lbs driver
wakeplate 25%

Yeah... I have surfed many 21v's. It will surf. Strange thing is it does not like all that weight up front that the OP is running. Fill that bag half full and you will see an improvement. Run the wake plate around 25% (depending on weight and people you can adjust). If you are on a lake where there are not police then put a guy standing on the gunwale holding onto the tower. You will see it really makes the wave roll nicely if you don't have enough people to add extra weight. You will also find that the wave is not very long compared to the boats nowadays, but it will have some big mass and lots of push.
Also, make sure you are burping the air from your bags. They will take on air over time and it will look like the bag is full, but half of it is air and you are missing out on much of that ballast weight.
Try playing with the speed too, but I would bet you will want to be about 11 +or- a hair

05 21 v always hated surfing it because never got it good. Buddy built surf gate and love it now. Center 1100 filled. Surf side rear full 600 and opposite side half. Wake plate 1/4 and 11mph. West surf wake I've ever had on boat. We surfed 2 people same time it was so long
