Anyone know where you get that black rubber pebbly looking stuff you see on so many of the older boats??? Im pretty sure its for grip and was just wondering if they come in massive sheets or actual kits for certain boats. Thanks for the input!

This company also sells something similar to gator grip. They actually make the OEM N logo matting for Correct Craft as well.

I bought gator grip last year and it is some awesome stuff. I plan on getting more next fall for some winter projects.

How durable is the gator grip?

Does it fade easily in the sun?

Has anyone ever had to remove it?

The stuff is a rubber/neoprene sheet. It's not super strong or ultra durable. Fins will cut it. But it is very non-skid. And frankly when it gets a little cut up after a year or two, it doesn't look bad.

I've been using & selling the stuff since 1993. Sold Chris is first sheet at Boardstock in (I think) 1999 on the old Wakelist houseboat. I guess he liked it so much he copied the idea & ripped off the name.

haha, this is wild...I asked the dealership around here about this yesterday since my swim platform is fiberglass, its very slippery...They recommended Sano...I tried contacting Hydroturf and never received an email back from them..I also found Deco Dot Floor Vinyl at Cabelas that sounds the same
but dont know how well it would do....good price though lol

Yea, this stuff is not slippery in the least. In fact, it feels a little squishy under your feet. Harder than the neoprene in a wetsuit, and definitely more durable. But not as hard as the black rubber that comes on Supras & older Malibus.

I haven't tried the stuff from Cabelas but will go check it out for a comparison. My guess is it's a harder rubber than this.

Remember the slick & soft rubber swimstep pad sold by Malibu in like 06 or 07? This is that soft, but not slick at all.

I've been rafted up at the hydroplane races & had people walk over just to see what it is all about.

wake junky gator grip is the way to go. I bought a 5'x4' sheet for $120 and it was more than enough to cover my platform. Got several comments today about how "grippy" it was with my platform 6" under water.
