Looks like it might be a good sports cam with dual digic 4 - fulltime 8 fps - unlimited jpeg and 15 RAW buffer.

I just bought my buddies 40D so that he can go get the 7D. He already placed a pre-order for it. the 8fps has me drooling as well as the big eyepiece would be nice

I haven't shot from the boat in forever, but I don't think 15 frames is enough to get a full wake-to-wake sequence at 8fps, is it? Perhaps Canon included low and high framerate setting. But for stick and ball sports I'm sure the 7D will find its way into a few pro's gear bags as a back up body.

Looks pretty sweet to me. Let's see how the 1st 6 month plays out and get some feedback. Rich is a total gear head, I know he will try it out. Looking forward to your review Rich

Guess if you need more then 15 frames you'd have to go jpeg. It's got a 3 fps setting as well.

Weather sealed.

The overlays in the VF look pretty cool. I wonder how good the AF system is. If it's marginally better then the 40-50D the wildlife guys will jump all over this body.

You can thank the Nikon D300 for this. This body has a lot of new tech in it that I'm sure will be further refined in the next two 1 series offerings. The 1D4 should be out this spring.

I like the specs on the 7D so far. I'm looking for someone to review this too.

here is a hands-on preview of a pre-production 7D... http://www.pdngearguide.com/gearguide/content_display/news/e3i76e7bfe15f67e9f1886802c2edc523a6

15 frames should be enough for the average wake jumper. Most wake jumps last about a second long with some people's double ups being longer than that. I just shot some video tonight of some MASSIVE double ups and they were in the second and a half to 2 seconds long. And they weren't small neither.

Also, the jpeg+raw button and price tag seem like nice features!

It's official- Canon designed this body to shoot WBing! Upload

Looks like it tracks fairly well although the cable shots weren't necessarily that tough given the BG. The shots of the soccer players and running kids were actually tougher given the parameters they were shot under. Still my mkIII normally would have popped an Oof frame in here and there with those kinds of sequences.
