Does anybody have further details? So incredibly sad. It sounds like he got stuck under one of the obstacles in their "fun lake" with inflatables for kids.

That is horrible. If feel very sorry for the family's loss.

BSR is such a cool place with such cool people. I hope everyone out there is handling it well too.

Did no one see this happen? From the sound of it, it said he was found under there, and they started looking after he was missing. It's sad, but if it was him wandering off, or playing in a kids area, then either the parents or someone employed there should be watching. I'm not sure of the setup there, but every water feature type place I've ever gone either has
A) a lifeguard on duty
or
B)a sign saying no one is on duty and to watch your kids, enter at your own risk/etc.

I hear that he didn't have a life jacket on, but I could easily see with tons of people in that fun lake that this could happen so easily without anybody noticing even with a life jacket on. Maybe he just decided to swim under to the other side and got stuck. Makes me sick to my stomach. They are having a fund raiser on Friday for the family there.

I love BSR and hope that they don't have to change anything. I was actually going to take my kids to the "fun lake" this summer.

Hmmm. I have to admit, as a parent, that place would freak me out. Way to easy to swim under that thing, become disoriented or lost, and run out of breath.

So sad.

Tragic. My kids are good swimmers and I don't take my eyes off them for a second in the water. Things can go from fun to tragic in a matter of seconds.

This was a 12 year old who was a strong swimmer. When I was that age me and my buddies would take each other kneeboarding and skiing behind the jet ski (unsupervised) . It is just a tragic accident. It could have happened to any adult just the same.
