I have been watching the fun everyone has surfing at the lake this summer and would like to join in the fun. (i would also like to be able to do some wake boarding and tubing as well)

Our lake has a strict length restriction of 21 feet excluding a platform. (They actually use a tape measure to check)

I would also like to keep the price under $30k - i could go up a little higher in a pinch

I have been reading the forums and have seen a lot of recommendations for older boats that are slightly longer than 21 feet.

I have been looking at Nautique 210's, Wakesetter VLX and XTI's, Maristar 210's and 225's, a Tige 20V, several xstars and probably several others that i am forgetting

Any thoughts?

thanks !

Thanks - Seemed like many of the recommended boats were over 21.0 feet in length and were in the $35-40k range. I'll take another look though

I think the issue is the below 21' part. Most inboards that surf well are 21' or over. Just to be clear, is a boat exactly 21' in length disqualified?
I think the older Mastercraft X2 was below 21'. Not sure how they surf.

So yeah look at the mastercraft X2 2006 and newer, Tige 20v, Malibu VTX I really dont know older centurion and supra but my guess they do have 20ft boats. Most boats that say they are 21ft are actually 21ft 6 to 9 inches.

I'd look at a Centurion Cyclone C4. It's built on the same hull design as its bigger siblings (Lightning C4 and Avalanche C4). It would put out a great surf wave if properly setup.

My brother in law owns and 06 mastercraft x2. I'm not sure of his ballast configuration, but he adds a surf device to it and he seems pretty happy with it.

Our 2008 Malibu Vtx. Shorter boat often equals shorter wave but our wave has enough push for my 350lb buddy to learn to surf ropeless. There are better boats out there for sure but for the budget and length we are very happy.

I don't surf so I might not be the best judge, but that VTX's wave looks every bit as big as any other pictures I have seen from these $150k+ boats.

Are you only interested in surfing? Or will you also do some wakeboarding

Interested in both surfing and wake boarding. Do some wake boarding now but have never surfed. If it is as fun as it looks, we will primarily surfing
