-posted on mbowners as well

The lags on my captains chair pulled out yesterday. I'm a big fella at 230# but come on!

Trying to figure out how to fix it:
-fill old holes with epoxy, drill pilot holes, remount?

-There's a panel in the floor that runs up the middle of the boat. Is it plausible that I could remove that panel and get access to space under the chair? I'm assuming no as I would hope the factory would have installed the seat flange with washers and nuts if this was possible.

-Any other ideas?

Thanks, KC

I would blow/remove any loose bits then fill with thickened epoxy. Drill appropriate size for your lags then coat lags with epoxy and install. Consider going up a size if that would work for your mounting setup.

The factory would not have used a backing plate of any sort even if possible or reasonably easy to do so.. Factory builds are done cheap and easy, which is good enough most of the time. If it's reasonably easy to do a backing plate I'd do it, but fixing the lags it probably fine.
