I'm going to pull my engine and tranny on my 2000 xstar to replace the damper plate. right now, it sounds like a box of rocks.

Ive got the predator engine with the combined hurth vdrive/tranny. I'm looking for anythything to look out for or any advice.

Also, what else should I do to the engine/tranny while I have it pulled. I've been told I might as well drain the tranny really good, and replace the seal.

So far, I've been told that I need to:
-remove the back seats
-remove the walls
-remove the engine cover
-pull the engine/transmission as one unit.
-have a shop realign the propshaft when done.

anything else?

Go ahead and give it a tuneup while its out, and maybe grease the starter while its easy to get to.

How much does a realign job go for?

Tighten the strut bolts and steering assembly while the engine is out...

Why are you pulling the engine?

here is a link that might be helpful if you don't have the tech manual:

also, when you pull the back seat, place some cardboard in between the seat and the side to protect the vinyl side panels. I pulled all the same stuff to do some interior work and it was kind of a squeeze to get the seat out.

realing is ~100. I've done it before, but its pretty much artwork.

I'd be removing the engine and trany/vdrive, because I was told that is the easiest way to get to the tranny/dampner plate, instead of trying to do it in the boat.

so, for tunup, plugs, wires, etc?
