DIY Wakeboard Rack

This winter the wife said I have to many boards as they were starting to flow out of the closet and it was time to find a place for them or get ride of some. Parting with the boards was not an option so I started looking at board racks for my basment. Looked online to buy a wall rack but didnt see any I liked so I set out to make a rack myself. I have not done much wood work (hardly any) but I looked at different home made racks online and then went on to make my own. Thought I would post it up here for anyone else who needed some ideas for making a board rack. Plus now I need more boards to fill the rack!

I used 4x4s, cut 45º notch-outs in them, routered the edges, sanded and painted. Worked out pretty well.

Kramer yours reminds me of a CD tower I had in high school.

Ours weren't necessarily "DIY", but I did screw them into the wall myself... so that's still something!



We got ours from Lowes back in the day. Just make sure to leave enough space in between the brackets for each board.

I actually was looking at doing the 4x4 method thinking it would be easier, but didnt know how I would cut the notches with the tools I had plus I didnt have a router to clean up the edges so I went with plywood. I just got one 4x8 sheet of plywood and had home depot cut sides and back sheet. Then I cut the top sheet and base sheet with a circular saw and used a jig saw to cut the fingers out to hold the boards.

I have been using those same racks from lowes but wanted a little nicer look for the basment to hold boards that i dont use as much and during the winter. Will use the lowes rack most likely for boards still wet.

Makes sense. Our stay in the garage so appearance wasn't too high of a priority. If I displayed them inside, which would be kind of cool now that I think about it, I'd definitely go the route of something nicer.

Great... another weekend project haha.

Dustin, that looks super clean. I like that a lot. I think I'm gonna do the same thing.
