Looking for an "inexpensive" set of tower speakers and amp to drive them.
Current system in my pro air is:
JL900/5
Alpine sps-600 x4
JL 10w3

Id like to add a couple tower speakers and probably an amp to push them. We will probably upgrade boats next year or the following so I don't want to spend a fortune. Doable under $1000?

Don't really care to hear it wakeboarding. Mostly for the wife and friends floating around. Wouldn't hurt to hear it surfing not that we surf all that often (or well) in a direct drive pro air.

From the product listed you already have. I would stay with that caliber and do a pair of WetSounds Icon8 or the JL 8's in their cans. 6.5" will be a bit cheaper BUT I would still do the 8's...

Kicker KM8, KMTES8 pods and KXM400.4

or

KMT67 and KXM400.2

Both easily under a $1000. Solid setups. Marine built rather than car door speakers cobbled into cheap aluminum pods.

I have a set of DB Drive APT6.0pro on my tower. They are the least expensive Horn Loaded Compression Driver speakers that I found. I wanted a budget stereo and I am very happy with them. I have a pp p900.4 bridged to the two speakers and you can hear them from over 100 yards away.. You can find the 6.5 inch speakers online for around $200 and the 8 inch for $275. My stereo is clear and loud for under $500.

Buy my Kicker 6500.2 6 pack, and then spend $125 and get a PPI P600.2 amp to power it. You'll be in it to win it for WELL under your budget. They crank great for a midpriced option at both surf and wakeboard.

Good Suggestions alll.

I like the Kicker KMT67s and the DB stuff has me curious because it's cheap and I'm cheap.

I had the KMT67 and they worked great. Nothing wrong with them at all. I sold them and bought two pair of KM8's in the KMTES Pods that chpthril also mentioned.

I mainly went the KM8's for the LEDs and I like the look of 4 separate pods. They sound better to me but it could all be in my head. chpthril likely has a more informed opinion on which one should sound better between the two (if at all).
