I've seen several people have mounted a pair of 485s on top of the tower, but has anyone tried to mount them below? I know this has been touched on (usually just accepted that 2 485s won't work) and Tim mentioned that the hang height was unacceptable. What I wonder is if one half of the pod was connected to the crossbar and the other half to a custom bracket mounted to one or even both of the speaker mounts in the tower, would they be far enough to the side to be tolerable? I figure the distance between the tower legs on my 2006 VLX is at least 90 inches. If the 485s were pushed all the way out, that would leave at least 30 inches in the center to walk through without ducking. Even after seeing a 485 in person at the boat show today, it's hard to know how this would work without actually trying it.

Anyone try this or have thoughts?
