I have read all the posts concerning battery issues. So here is what I have come up with to power my new system.

I have purchased 6 6volt golf cart batteries from costco. They are johnson control and have 220AH. Like I said I have purchased 6 of these. I will use the six for my system and have a seperate battery for the starting battery. I will be running a onboard smart charger. I am leaning toward the pro 20 gen 2. ( open to suggestions here) Any issue trying to charge the 6-6volt batterys with this charger?

I need advice on how to wire these battries together. And How do I wire the Charger? And how does all of the run thru the perko switch?

I am very new to this forum, however, I have dug deep into the past threads and know there are some very bright people handing out very helpful information. Thank you!!!

I have almost the same setup as you. There are a few different ways you could wire it. I wired mine so that there are 3 pairs of batteries with 2 perko switches. This way there are 3 banks for the stereo plus the starting battery which is connected to the alternator. When I plug in the charger I switch both Perkos to off. When I'm playing the system, I'll have the first perko on 1, and second on 1. When that dies, switch the first perko to 2, when that dies switch the second perko to 2. When that dies, go home and plug in the Pro Mariner. And by dead, I mean when they hit 11.9 volts. It might sound confusing, but it's pretty simple really. Here is a diagram
