Any help that the group can provide would be much appreciated.

Looking for our first boat with a max budget of 35K, but would like to stay closer to 25K if the right fit exists. In terms of priorities I would say wakeboarding is 1.a and wakesurfing is 1.b, with tubing and skiing being behind those 2. In my area the following are currently available:
2002 SAN 210. 400 hrs. 25K
2004 Malibu Wakesetter VLX. 480 hrs. 31K
2005 Tige 24V. 550 hrs. 30K
2005 Centurion Elite. 300 hrs. 30K
2005 Mastercraft X30. 300 hrs. 34.5K
2007 Supra 21V Launch. 900 hrs. 33.5K

Any insight would be much appreciated. My two teenage boys want to wakeboard, but I mainly want to surf. Also, we will regularly have 8 people in the boat as a mix of adults and kids. Lastly, I don't want to be constantly tinkering and needing to fix things so age is a factor. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Nicholas! What is the difference between the VLX and the LSV?

get the biggest boat you can afford and like. Nick has you on the right track. I would not rule out the 24ft Tige either especially if surfing is a big deal. Gonna have to ask about that boat on Tige owners to get a real idea on that side of it. I have an 02 xstar thats the size of that SAN I would love to have a bigger boat!!!!!!

If you dont need a bigger boat, I would say the SAN210.

1) it has a great wakeboard wake...and in my opinion the best one of the boats listed above (if size doesnt matter)
2) You can get a pretty big and clean surf wake because that boat just had a great hull
3) you wont need as much weight to sink it as opposed to a bigger boat

That was "the boat" back in its time and its a pretty good deal at $25K with only 400 hrs

but....it is a small boat

SANTE. If you can up your budget to $30K you can get an 06. Last year of the OG hull, reversible ballast pumps, reliable v-drive. I have 2000# of ballast in mine and with 2 people in the boat the wakeboard wake is out of this world. Add another 6-8 people in the boat and you can surf port side (regular stance) all day if you have a deep lake, and kids/lighter people can surf the starboard side all day as well. I regularly go out with 4-5 other people and the boat is fine space wise, but storage is a bit lacking. If you regularly have 8-10 people with you biggest boat you can get might be priority. But you are looking for wakeboard wake first and foremost it starts and ends with the 95-06 SANTE hull.

+1 for SAN 210, I own 1996 Super Sport and it is great for both wakeboarding and surf. I have about 2000 pounds plumbed in (1200 back, 600-800 center and front) and it is great for both sports. Buy/make a surf wedge and your good. Comfortable with up to 5-6 people.

Wakesetter VLX is pretty comparable in size, and still has a fun wake shape, but I liked the 2005 and later hull shape better. Seems overpriced.

The Tige 24v would be worth considering if you plan to bring out a bunch of people. I wouldn't even consider the others unless one had better features that you would plan to add anyway.

You could get a bigger supra in the 05-07 years for that price. Like a 22SSV Lunch, 22SunSport or 24SSV Lunch, 24SunSport.

The only diffrance between a SunSport and a Lunch is the stickers and some of the SunSports where optioned with the walk through bow instead of the play pin bow. You don't want the walk through bow because you lose the 1,100 ballast bag in the front of the boat. These boats love nose weight.

Like others have said, get the biggest boat you can for the money. Personally, I would stick with either Malibu, MC or Nautique from this era as these three were above the rest in terms of build quality and attention to detail. However, in todays market, most manufacturers are building quality boats with a higher price tag.

The MC X30 and Malibu LSV will be two of the better boats you can buy from that era, both brands offer top notch build quality that the others wont. You can add extra weight to these and still fit a larger crew.

The 210 is a great wakeboard wake but it is like hitting brick wall and the 210 is a lot smaller on the inside so with 8 people you will be cramped. The same applies to other 21ft. models.

The wakeboard wake will be good on both the X30 and LSV but these will produce a better surf wave with the right weight setup and/or wakeshaper.

Our 2003 23 LSV has been awesome for us. It’s for sale at the moment (classifieds here on WW) $24k. 10k less than your budget so you can install a stereo of your dreams.

I just sold an MC X2 for slightly less than that. If you are into wakeboarding, the is one model to look at for sure.
