I just bought a sub and was going to install it in the kickplate under dash. Do you have to install it in a box or can you just install it into that plate? I saw that other thread and it got me thinking if I need a box or not? Do I? Thanks
It will always sound better in a enclosure. Most subs will play a free air application, but will have greatly reduced power handling, and lower output. Unless it is a free air sub I would recomend a enclosure. What kind of sub?
Is a Clarion CM2503 8" sub. Nothing too crazy. It was out of an 02 X30....putting it in a 95 super sport. I got the deck and amp too. Does the box replace the kick plate or does it go behind it? I cant picture it? One more question...would a clarion apx400.4m be enough for that sub and kicker tower speaks?
On that note, can you re-route the heater vent to go around the enclosure? I have a Supra SSV w/ heat and there is a vent for my heater underneath the kickplate. I am trying to avoid it. Any ideas?
