Why have 6X9's when you can listen to music while riding using HLCD speakers like wetsounds speakers?

I like the 6x9's too but opted to use HLCD drivers in my tower speakers for getting the sound back to the rider.

I saw quite a few at the Boat Show this year. One maker has 8 6x9 in a tower pod. Liquid Audio? I am not positive on the maker. I went the Pro Audio route.

i agree. my buddy has 2 6x9s on his tower and were louder than the 4 6.5" that I had on mine.

(i realize it can have a lot to do with specs on speakers, amps, etc.) I would just say on average the 6x9s seem to pump.

because when it comes to clearness at a distance the 6x9 just cant handle it

6x9s are just fine for most people, it all depends on the speaker and the power you are putting to it.

Had 4-6x9's on the last boat and the new one has NVS Tyrants. 6x9's did rock and I agree was real sweet at the time. I could hear them from way back, but not loud and clear. I think that 6x9 are better than 6.5, but that is me. I think they look better too. I have never heard a bunch of 6.5 that when blasted sounded better than my 4-6x9's. 6x9's had more fuller sound than 6.5. I am sure someone will say different.

Always looking for the bigger, better thing. NVS speakers are real, real loud and clear.

I won't say different. They are not the best from 70-80' away, but that doesn't really bother me. The only time I'm really listening to them is while I'm surfing and they sound killer from there. 6x9's have always had a fuller sound to me.
