I just watched the Malibu pro card qualifier video and saw a kid riding the new ronix limelight (Dallas Friday's pro model). I know I've seen girls ride men's boards (Meghan Ethell, Sophie hobgen, etc) but how does everyone feel about the other side of that coin? I've seen pros rocking women's bindings before (parks, oli) but not the boards...I guess if you like the colors or whatnot but still...

I think you answered your own question when you wrote "kid". If the kid wants to ride a high end Ronix boat board in a small size he doesn't have much choice. Most chicks boards are just guys boards with a different graphic anyway

Some women's boards are the same as the men's board with different graphics.

I was using the term "kid" loosely cuz I'm old lol... He's probably in his teens or early 20s and a men's 135-138 would probably be the perfect size

Haha I know what you mean. Even the music that is in wakeboard videos now, rewind a few years ago and it actually amped you up to ride, now its just lame

The Limelight is it's own shape and core, softer and with its own degree of camber so it's not just a smaller men's board. I've actually really wanted to ride it for a while and just haven't gotten the chance to get out on it yet.

In both wakeboards and slalom skis sometimes the high end women's boards are the same shape as the men's but with a softer core. So, if a tall skinny guy wants a long board but doesn't need the stiffer core, the womens board could be a better fit.

I had the opportunity to speak to the Ronix rep when he came into my shop. The limelight is the ronix william/ bill with a different core. Same shape and all just with a lighter core that is from what he told me just as strong as the mens core. He told me some riders do it because they want to be different with the graphic others do it because they prefer the other core.

I had the chance to ride the quarter till' midnight and I have to say it rides exactly like my ronix bill. (I ride both the bill and william)
