No boat under 30' or not made out of wood should ever be named.

Why? Every boat in my family, dating back to the late '40s, has always had a name. Not one of them has been over 30' and not one of them since the early '80s has been wood. Only one has ever gone down but, at over 100mph, recoveries are hard to find. We still got it back. So if there is some type of old maritime superstition, I fail to see its relevance.
...and if you're too cool to name your boat, perhaps you just have no creativity and you need to call those that do names in order to try and hide your insecurities. Have you no humility? Get over yourself.

^ My guess would be very minimal, but quite lippy.
Also if your boat is just like every other boat out there and has nothing special to it, I don't see the point of naming it. If it is unique and stands out, maybe with a certain look, style, or theme to it, then go ahead.

...more fun than a sidekick, Nick.
Naming a boat is fun. How stuck in the mud does your stick have to be to be too serious to name a boat? It's a toy. If you just don't want to name a boat, fine. You want to call it stupid, I'm gonna call calling it stupid, stupid.
No not much wake behind that Hallett Barron Sprint. Even with a big 'ol blown 454 on nitro in the back.

Who give's a chit if someone wants to name their boat, it's their boat. Do I do it? No, but i could care less if anyone else does and i'm certainly not going to judge someone on the fact that they put a sticker with some letters on the back of their boat.

I don't care if you name your boat, but if you do it better be crude or funny.

I've probably said it before on here but my last boat had been named "the Coin Toss" because it was a coin toss if it would run all day. It ended up being a pretty simple wiring issue i solved and then i removed the name sticker.

I have a client who is a bail bondsman. He runs big old Bertram motor yacht with the name: 'Crime pays"
My 20" center console is the Baitkiller named after my late father.
The Nautique is named Punkin for my daughter.
Neither boat is lettered. We just call them by name to determine which boat we are taking out.
My last boat was the Fish Whistle. Scott and Anthony should know what that is.
