For the last 2 years, I've been riding a 2014 Ronix Bandwagon XL. I'm 6'4" 195. I'm starting to get into 3s and inverts now and the 147 cm board, with over 900in2 surface area feels really bulky. I've been looking at the 2015 Bill because I ride cable and boat, and it is solid at both. But, the only sizes available are 140 and 145. I feel like 140 would be too small, but my question is, would the 145 of a different board be small enough to not feel bulky like the Bandwagon XL?

Tough call. I would say it really depends on the board. Since you are looking at the Bill you are in a tough spot. I would say the idea board for you is a 142/143cm. At my age and riding style and if I was your height and weight I would go with the 145cm. If I was still in my early 20's I would go with the 140cm. It also depends on how high on the water the board rides. The slingshot boards ride low so it is idea to ride them larger, I currently ride on a slingshot. The traditional boards ride a little higher on the water so you can ride them a little smaller. The 145 will be softer on landings but you also add swing weight over the 140. I hope my post just made you more unsure.

haha, a little. Do you think i'd be too low in the water on a 140? I'm 20 and i'm looking for an aggressive ride. I'd be down to ride the 140 if it wasn't gonna be too small.

No, you should be fine. I'm 5'8 / 160 and ride a 141. It's down to personal preference, I've got mates over 6" who like a 135 because they can throw it around. Tim's advice is spot on,

At your age I would go with the 140. I am 33 and prefer a larger board for the softer landings.

Iam 6'3" and ride a 146" ronix one. Love it. I have a few friends that are 6'0" and ride the same board as me. So not to big at all!

I hated the Nomad. It's like riding a giant wet noodle. If it was stiffer, it might be a bit better to ride. You can even see it flex a TON in that video.

Not ridden, but I'm not against it. I regularly rode a 146 recoil.

I am with Tom, for my size and weight the Nomad is super fun, but way to soft for the inverts that I do. I have found the 150 HL Murray to be my solution. You can see if on one of the other threads as I have been talking about it all season. I have rode almost every board over a 142 in the last 10 years and finally found the best combination in the Murray board. Its always good to ride everything, but for us big guys the selection is pretty limited.

I am going to ride my buddies. I may switch back to a stiff board mainly cause I ride so low in the water on a slingshot. The soft landings are nice but I am 230lbs. and the drag weight is killing me. I can barely ride 5 minutes before I need a break.

^^^^^ dude get a response 147! Best of all worlds. Really fast, a bit stuffer, they've added some strakes to the tip and tail to help speed it up a bit. Would reccomebd for sure. My buddy weighs 250 and went from a response 145 to nomad 150 (too soft for how big he goes) and back to a response 147 because he missed it.

I'm 6'1 and 190 and find 142-144 to be my sweet spot personally. It's about board shape and width as well. My brother is right at home on his oracle 143 and is a similar size.
I'm a flex board kind of guy myself though. Been through all the "weird" brands. SS, CTRL now humanoid.

Yeah I actually almost forgot I rode a 147 response a few weeks ago. It was definitely fast. A little too loose for me, but definitely a fun board.

Honestly I didn't even know slingshot made a 147. I haven't been in the market for a new board since my wife bought me the Lyman. I will have to look into it.

Based on your size I would say the 145 ish should fit you like a glove. I am 225 and ride the Murray 150 and love it. It is a bit of a big board but landings are very forgiving on this board and at 43 that is a huge bonus. Good luck

The bill flicks like a feather. I ride the 140 (5-9, 170), but I can ride the 145 like a champ. I wouldn't worry about the size at all, especially after coming off the Bandwagon. That board is a beast.

Read the other post on the the Murray 150 and you will see lots more good input. I have rode them all and in love with the Murray. It is the first time in 20+ years of riding I feel like I can push the board and not break it as well as take my inverts more int he flats because I have more board to land on. I am having more funding than in last 5 years. The board is a perfect match for me. I have regained several tricks I lost and working on several new inverts.
