I've injured my ribs twice in the last year. I know I've seen someone mention using a rib belt, somewhere eon this forum.

If it's something that might prevent rib injuries I might think about getting it and using it, atleast for when trying new stuff (and especially for when I learn raleys!).

Anyone have any recommendations or comments on it? Is it a burden or you don't really feel it?

The one I used for years was a white thick elastic one I got from the doc when I first broke the rib cartilage, standard medical supply stuff. It is long gone, but now I have a neoprene one that I got at a sporting goods store. If you get one, get the thickest they have as the thinner neoprene ones are not enough support. It is invisible under a vest or clothes. I wear it for both wake and snow, not so much for the rib anymore but more to help keep my core tight to protect where I fractured my lumber spine a while back. I don't feel it at all, and it is negative burden since it saves me so much back pain in the days that follow a hard session. I also have a much stiffer one that is more like a waterproof weight lifting belt, which I used to wear for barefooting but now use when I do slalom course sets, but I don't like it for wakeboarding because it limits mobility too much and throws everything off.

Well ironically, just a few days after I wrote that, my neoprene one ripped to shreds after a few hours at the cable park. I still probably got maybe 15-20 sessions out of it combined wake and snow before it bit the dust, but that's not enough for me to be satisfied with durability. So now I'm searching again for a replacement. I bought an elastic one from eBay, but it it super flimsy when I received it. The original elastic one I had for all those years was thick, supportive, and bombproof either in or out of water. I'll see if I can locate a replacement and will post it up. Note - a physical therapist friend told me that I might want to search "abdominal binder" instead of "rib belt". Abdominal binders apparently are similar but wider and also might be more supportive. I'll post here if I find anything good.
