I usually tow my boat (2017 Nautique 230) with my truck, but for an upcoming trip with the kids I'll need to tow with my wife's Escalde. It's a 2017 ESV (or whatever they call the long one ...).

Anyone here have any experience with a newer Escalade or Denali Yukon XL with the 6.2? And a similarly weighted boat?

I'd love to know any experience that anyone can share. It's a great truck, but how does it tow?

Thanks in advance.

you wont have any problem with that setup at all. I tow with my 2015 yukon which is pretty much the same truck and it does just fine. The esv being longer should only help stability. The extra weight is noticable vs the short version when i drove them back to back, but still plenty of power there. I'd make sure you have an adjustable hitch and double check its level after the rear air bags inflate to level it.

I got a Denali that works well when my diesel is hooked to something else.

I have a 2013 escalade EXT and never had any problem with any boats.. tow capacity is 7 500pounds.
ESV is the same tow capacity. You probably will feel it a little more but you can easily with no stress.
My dad have a chevy Suburban (same as esv but a 5.7L) and never had problem towed his 23lsv (pretty same size and weight as your 230) and the tow capacity is less than the 6.2.

You'll probably love it !

Thanks guys.

I also wondered if there was a huge difference between the 5.7 of the standard Chevy or yukon vs the 6.2 in the Escalade or Denali.

Thanks again. Should work well.

They don't produce the 5.7 any more, it's a 5.3 and yes there will be a big difference. I have an 08 denali 1500 with the 6.2 and it's a really strong engine. It pulls my supra 24V with 600 pounds of lead just fine. I pull in 5TH down the hwy and it does real good.

I pull my Axis T23 with a 2011 Escalade EXT. No issues at all.

Huge difference between the 5.3 and the 6.2. I have towed with both. The 5.3 sucks and I will never buy a vehicle with that engine again.

I agree but the new Direct Injection 5.3 are better than the old 5.3's. But why buy a 5.3 when there is an options for a 6.2!!!

Exactly like everyone, 5.3 and 6.2 have lots of difference.

I had a 2010 chevy avalanche 5,7 and I changed it for a 2013 escalade EXT.
Same truck but day and night performance. Never gonna go back with the 5.7 or even 5.3 When you taste the 6.2 Haha.

L83 5.3 found in the 15 and newer tahoe/burb/yukon is a substantial upgrade over any older 5.3 ly5, lmg, or lc9 found from 05-13. Not a 6.2 but cuts the margin in half from earlier 5.3's. And gets great mileage.
