Although I'm sure it would be great for my fellow WakeWorlders,
I'm trying not to have an ordeal like JJ had.

I'm getting a used boat lift from out of state. I know I should go get it myself, or at least go look at it but that's not going to happen. I'm going to have to rely on pictures and a detailed list of parts that are included. If I get burned, it's on me.

I would love some advice on using U Ship though. Any input would be appreciated. I know to look at there feedback, but how do I make sure they have insurance, and how do I make sure my lift is covered under that insurance?

Request covered / trailerd transport so you don't get some jackass that has a pick up and tows your boat across country behind his truck without inspecting tires bearings, no mud flaps, etc. Cheapest deal usually isn't the best option.

I have had new boats towed using uShip from Cali to Illinois many times. I never take the cheapest bid, check out their reviews, make sure the account is not new and find out what kind of truck they have. Best if you get it shrink wrapped before the trip also.

Yes! And insist on a pre-shipping damage list (sent to you before they leave the yard) and hopefully with the seller's signature/approval that the damage is accurate. Then review the list and the shipped goods after it arrives. This is the best way to know if the damage was caused by shipping or if it already existed. This is the way long haul movers have been doing business for decades... it only makes sense...

I think all of you guys missed that it's a boat LIFT, not a boat.

It is a boat lift, but I like having the shipper look for damages. Makes sence.

So far so good. It's in route right now. The guy I bought it from took a lot of pictures as well as the delivery driver. They both have been in contact through out. Hopefully it'll show up later today, or first thing tomorrow morning.

I did. It was actually pretty painless. So far anyway.

They had reviews for all the different shippers that bid on your shipment. The guy I picked had 220ish 5 star reviews. 100% positive.

Sorry guys, it didnt turn into a JJ thread. This one turned out great! I couldn't be happier with the way u ship works. It's super easy to find, book, and keep tabs on your driver and shipment. I'll definitely use them again.
