I just traded in a 2003 MC x9 to Chicago Mastercraft that they have up for sale. In fact, I think they have it at their Riverview location which is less than a two hour drive from Davenport.

Hey Brett, you live in Davenport? I live out in LeClaire. What kind of boat did you trade in for? I've never ridden on the river (or even been on it for that matter). We go out to Oak Run (by Galesburg, IL). ever been out there?
Old     (pc_sledge)      Join Date: Jan 2006       01-08-2007, 12:55 PM Reply
Ian, traded up to an MC x-45. I am super stoked for the spring. Talked to my dealer yesterday and he said it just came in, I can't wait for it to warm up! I have never been to Oak Run, but I love hitting up new spots. I used to live in Pleasant Valley but moved near Muscatine last year just so I could be closer to my favorite spot on the river. E-mail me if you want and we could share spots and pulls this spring.
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       01-08-2007, 3:06 PM Reply
Wow, and X45? that should handle the river just fine. Oak Run is a small private lake about 660 acres or so. Where did you get the X45? where are you going to have it serviced around here?

Brett, I used to work for a construction company in the quad city area. Have you ever heard of allied construction services?
Old     (pc_sledge)      Join Date: Jan 2006       01-09-2007, 5:23 AM Reply
Ian my new ride is coming from Mark at Chicago Mastercraft. He also operates through Riverview Marine which is where I go for service work. They are located along I-80 about two hours east of the Quad Cities. Marc, I am very familiar with Allied, my crews work right along side their crews on several commercial projects. My company does commercial and industrial concrete and excavating, so our work on a project is usually starting to wind down as they're just getting going. I deal quite frequently with Darin S. who does alot of their scheduling.

We are originally from SE Iowa, and contemplating the move back in a few years. We have never rode on a river though. How is riding on the Mississippi, especially around Burlington and Ft. Madison? Are there any other options in those areas for riding? Thanks!
Old     (wanabe)      Join Date: Nov 2006       01-09-2007, 11:14 AM Reply
Will as far as I know there is not any other options, however in the keokuk area becouse of the bends in the river, the high bluffs. and some of the slues there should be decent water somewhere.

Hey guys, I'm all in! I met another guy in the area who owns an older X-star. He posts on wakeworld now and again and is a great guy. We try and get out together every so often. We will have to put together a foursome and hit the water in the spring. After it warms up and I get my new ride broke in, I'll E-mail everybody and we can get together. Not trying to avoid the drive but if we are spread from Keokuk to Leclaire my area might be the closest to being in the middle. My new boat will hold alot of people so if you guys don't want to tow your rides everyone is more than welcome to hop on with me, If we want we could make a day of it. I live real close to the docks, and I could set up for a bonfire, beers and get the grill going. Let me know what you think.

Will, not real familiar with the Burlington/Ft. Madison area yet - but would like to be. Marc lives closer to that area maybe he could help you out.

I feel bad though, I can't seem to match your name to a face. I've met a lot of really nice people at those events. Did I met you on the concrete dock while watching the contest? Do you have a wife/girlfriend that was with you?

Brad - I'd be game for early season at Panorama. Typically I just haul friends out with me. Only made it out there a few times last season.

It's somewhat difficult for me to get my friends to head out to Panorama on the evenings because it's "too far away..." isn't that right Badzuki!

I used to ride out there with Kevin and Steve Kissell before they moved.

badzuki, where are you moving to? I am also in NW Iowa and ride near Sioux City. Okoboji is way to blowen out for me, but if you guys are down for a trip to S.C. let me know. We get going when the water at our spot is > 50. Usually it is about mid March but recent -25 nights may hold it up.

Brad- I am moving up to Okoboji. I never get down to SC. There is some good riding there but you can't be on the big lakes.

Luke/Brad- Its not "too far away" they just don't let me off work early enough. It would be different if we had a boat over there ready to go.

The Kissells were fun guys. I remember them from the Lake Panorama Ski Team.

If you email me your phone number (yeldarb [at] barbdwyer [dot] com) I'll give you a call when it gets warmer.

badzuki - if you get off of work early sometime you're welcome to come as well :-)

Right on guys. I lived in Urbandale for a while and learned how to get up on Panarama behind Nate Bartels' boat. I don't know if you Panarama guys know of him, but he was pretty much the beginning of wakeboarding on Panarama. You might still see him out on his old Prostar.

I have helped host a tournament for the past two summers on Twin Lakes, which is 30 miles west of Fort Dodge. Last year we had an amazing turnout with over 60 competitors ranging from a beginner class, a group of female riders, and clear up to an outlaw division featuring 8 or 9 really talented riders. We will be doing the same event this coming summer and with any luck, and some more help from our sponsors, we plan on making the event even bigger. People came from all over, Okoboji and that area clear down to Panorama and the Des Moines area. There were some 200 people hanging out on the beach all day and watching the riders do their thing. Oak Hill Marina in Okoboji hooked us up last year with an X-Star as well as an X-1 and we look for them to do the same this year. Red Bull threw a couple cases our way and those were free to the public and prizes came way of Twin Lakes Marina, providing us with boards, bindings, vests and that kind of stuff that the winners received. If anyone is interested in the event let me know and once we figure out our information I will be sure and forward it out to you. Thanks and I look to see you this summer.

Dustin do you and mike go together. How is wall lake and lake vermillion. I havn't actully ever heard of them. I usually go to okabena because it was that closest but it is really shallow. yeah mabey we can ride together sometime that would be sweet.

yeah we do, wall lake is really small but it's all right. Lake Vermillion is awesome but its a farther drive, we get out there early and had it all to ourselves for a while and the whole thing was glass last year. Definately going to go there more often this year.

as for okabena, thats ok too but all those jet skiers piss me off.

See exactly where Twin Lakes is click http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=twin+lakes+marina&sll=42.454241,-94.652538&sspn=0.054461,0.11673&ie=UTF8&z=13&ll=42 .482352,-94.652538&spn=0.054437,0.11673&om=1&iwloc=A

The tournament should be even bigger than it was last year. I am assuming that Oak Hill in Okoboji will throw us another XStar and last year they talked about the new X2, but didn’t have one in stock so gave us an X1. Hopefully this year they will have the new X2. Last year we had the X1 pull the beginner and girls class, while the XStar from Oak Hill pulled the intermediate. There is an 04 XStar on our lake with the 8.1 engine in it so for the outlaw we loaded that boat down with the same weight and distribution the Pro Tour uses. The wake was insanely large and the double ups were unbelievable. You should have seen the outlaw riders eyes the first time they hit the wake!! Looking at getting the pro tour prop for this year to help the boat plane faster, although it really wasn’t that big of a deal last year. Hopefully we get good weather again! No details are really worked out yet but once we know, you guys will too.

Stefan Harvey is the one who does the real work for the tournament, hitting up the sponsors and getting everything settled. I help him out but he does 90% of the work. We have talked about when to hold the tourney again this year but never really came to a decision.

Last year Stefan rode after all the competitors were done and that alone made the day for nearly all of the 200 or so spectators. He is a solid rider and loves the sport. It really shows in the tournament he puts on.

Again there definitely will be more details to come as summer approaches. If you have any questions though, hit me up with a message and I'll be sure and get back to you ASAP. Thanks and I hope to see you all at the Twin Lakes Wakefest this summer!!

It's always fun randomly seeing people you know in pics online :-) I think I recognize about 4 or 5 of the people in those Pics. Who won it last year?

Nicholas, I talked to you on WakesideRides last year, what's up? Please keep me informed about this year's tournament as you get more details :-)
