I currently ride a Watson classic 135. I am upgrading this year to a Harley grind and I am debating on getting another 135 or a 139. I am 5'11 and 150 pounds. What do you think? Is there much of a difference between the two or is it just your personal preference?

I always say, If you're on the fence go up. There have a been a few times that I have gone down and regretted it, but never going up. You may be a little light, but at 5-11 you have the leverage to swing a 139 around with no problem.

Also you will be able to have a wider stance on the 139. If you happen to put on a few pounds the 139 will still fit the bill . I weigh 165 and i ride a 141cm board. I also have a 139 for cable parks. My 139 is a Watson Hybrid.

I am a firm believer in bigger is better. Really the question your asking is how will the increased surface area on the water affect on your riding. Typically I notice two things when going in either direction, getting shorter the board feels more nimble and seems to transfer edges faster. I think that the right move for most is going bigger, while the board might not feel like is has the same snap when transferring edge to edge or slayishing the wake you going to notice a much more stable ride. For me and others I have taught lessons too, I notice more predicable pop and easier landings. You might not notice this as much as not only are you considering going up in size you considering a different board.

Hope this makes sense.

Bigger!!! More surface area will give you more pop and softer landings. Especially if you are riding mostly boat.

I'm 5-7, 140, and ride a 140. Would definitely go up if I were you.

I'm the exact same height and weight as you and I ride the harley 135. Everyone says it's small for me but I like it. I actually came from a 138 Watson. My preference is to have a smaller board in every sport I do though.
As others have mentioned, a larger board should give you softer landings and easier pop. Also the extra surface area should make it easier to recover from mistakes that usually would catch your nose
