repairable or ruined?

well at the end of the day, we were just idling along and go to close to the wing dam. does this look repairable or is it new prop time?

That can be fixed very easily!! Now is a good time to re-prop though if you were going to do it.

Prop Fix

Most people don't realize what is involved in fixing a prop and therefore don't really have a clue what can be fixed and what can't be. Most places want to sell you a new prop since they will make more money off you, but that can be fixed! I have seen props get fixed that were missing an entire ear...

I just had mine repaired and was nearly as bad as that. Come back as good as new but had to be without the boat for a week.

I'd buy a new prop and have that repaired. That way if it happens again you won't lose any water time

That's a pretty easy repair. I've seen worse repaired no problem - big chunks missing, most of the blades folded down around the hub, etc.

Mine was way worse and it is fixed! I defy anyone to tell the differance between the fixed one and a new one. The result is now I have a spair.

Ok, I think I it should be noted that on Friday, July 06, 2007 - 8:33 pm, I made another positive post. Two previous posters clearly said he needed a new prop and then I came out and said it could easily be fixed, I think that was positive. I'm keeping track of my positive posts now and just wanted to go on the record.

Does anybody know if the pitch on a prop can be changed? I have a 06 X1 and with 1400lbs of ballast the stock prop (oj 13.7 x 17) is a dog. Would I be able to change the pitch to a 16?

Yes, it can be done and is pretty often.

this prop says 14 by 18, does that mean 14 inch diameter and 18 degree pitch? if I am going to reprop should I got with a lower pitch?

I would also have your dealer or mechanic check to make sure that your drive shaft is not out of balance or bent.

It takes a lot more than that to bend the drive shaft. If it doesn't vibrate after you get the prop fixed, you're fine.

well my local prop shop said they can't do it, so I bought a new one and am goinbg to ship this one out at some point for a spare. Thanks for all the input
