I'm looking into getting a new boat but I wanted some input from people that have had the one I'm looking at. The ones I'm looking at right now are a 1998 mooba outback, a 1996 mastercraft prostar 190 LT1, and a Tige 20i (not sure on the year but I'll check). If anyone has any info on these as far as quality, reliability, handleing, wake, etc. That would be helpful thanks.

I probably wouldn't buy any of them. What is your price range, what are you going to use the boat for and do you have any size restrictions.

It will be an all around boat. Skiing, wake boarding, tubing. I can't spend a whole lot probably around $13,000.

I would see if you could find a sport nautique, mastercraft 205, Malibu sunsetter LXI(more ski friendly), Malibu Sunsetter LX(more wakeboard friendly), Sanger DLX, Possibly a Sanger V210(tough for that price) or a Supra Sunsport. All are a direct drives that you can ski behind(the LXI, 205 and sport nautique are probably the best ski boats) and alll will throw really good wakeboard wakes when loaded down. The 98 Outback, is really shallow and very cheap feeling. I don't know much about the Tige 20i but I am guessing that it is older and probably somewhat cheap feeling as well. The mastercraft 190 will throw an awesome ski wake and a good wakeboard wake as it has a similar hull to the 205(original xstar hull) but will be really cramped. Without extra weight you are limited to about 6 people and that isn't even comfortable. When you add a couple bags it will feel cramped with more than 4. It is a good boat though.

Not sure if you are against buying a repo boat but there is a 2000 air nautique that is going up for auction the 2nd tuesday of OCT in Eugene Oregon. There is a guy in Bend Oregon that will buy the boat at auction for you and sell it to you for 15% higher than what he paid. I bet you could get it for under 15.

Get what you can to get out on the water Kevin. Really none of those boats would be great for wakeboarding as they wont be a great wake no matter what weights in them. Find something you can get started with thats in decent to good condition and get out on the water!

It looks like you are from the Salt Lake area so there isn't much close. You kind of in the middle of bigger boat areas. If you are willing to travel I would look in the Sacramento or SF. You will find the best deals in this area. Maybe even Reno. You can probably find a wakeworlder that lives close to go take a look at the boat for $100 or so if you get serious. Here are some to look at. Not quite as good of a wakeboard or ski boat as the regular Air but still a good boat with good quality. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1394814395.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/1386448628.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/boa/1383533035.html Not sure if this is actually an air nautique or just a sport nautique with the air graphics. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/1390144115.html A little bit higher than what you want to spend but a nice boat. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1392498995.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/1391772721.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/boa/1384938160.html http://sacramento.craigslist.org/boa/1392950464.html Winner winner Chicken dinner. The only vdrive you will find for this price. Better act quick though. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/boa/1393660933.html Even better http://reno.craigslist.org/boa/1378185221.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/boa/1390150303.html More than your budget but awesome boat with an awesome wakeboard wake. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/1391163079.html If this boat is in pretty good shape this is a steal. Add a tower, PP, and ballast and you basically have a Supra Launch. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/1393271158.html

I am not sure how the tige 20i compares to the 20v, but I have a 20v and love it. It is an excellent boat for skiing and wakeboarding.

I really like both of those Sangers Brett posted. That's a killer deal at $12k and only 155hr v-drive...

What boats handle best in rough water. The lake we usually boat on can get pretty bad pretty fast.

Out of the boats I posted the Sanger V210 because of the deeper v has a good rough water ride. They are kind of a shallow boat so that may concern you but are built really solid and do ride well in rough water. The other good option would be the supra sunsport. They have a pretty deep v toward the bow and the boat is really deep. Pretty much all the others will suck in the rough water. They are built on somewhat flatbottom slalom based hulls.

Really low profile. It is pretty much a flat bottom boat so it will be horrible in rough water, have a bad wakeboard wake but have a pretty decent ski wake.

Here's one close to you that appears to be a solid set up. You may have already seen it but it looks like they're willing to deal. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=8004868&cat=147&lpid=0

Super low freeboard in those old Supra Comps Kevin. Means you can't weight them much. More of a slalom boat than wakeboard. And won't do the rough water very well. The Sunsetters did OK, better than the Comp, but not as good as the newer v-drives.

That would be a fairly solid boat. They are not my favorite but if you can get any vdrive for 13k you have found a good deal. What are the options on the boat?

IF that 2000 Elite V has a tower as well and is priced around 13k then that is a steal. That boat sounds like it is ready to go. You will love the vdrive seating configuration. It may not have the best ski wake but will have a good enough wakeboard and surf wake as well as being a little deeper than the other boats you listed. Most centurions also have a fairly deep V so it should be pretty good in rough water.

It has a tower, I'm hopefully going to test drive it saturday. Any advise on what to look for or check when I do?
