Looking for some sound advice.

I currently own a 2007 Mastercraft X-30 and have been really happy with it. Lately, I've been thinking about upgrading to a newer boat and the Supra SC400 has caught my eye.

My 2007 X30 is in mint condition and still has low hours. If it were you, would you move to the 2015 Supra SC400 or stick with what I have?

Much appreciated!

Supra makes a damn good boat. Whatever route you take, whether that's MC or Supra, you won't be disappointed. Lot more bang for the buck in a Supra IMO.

Have you had a demo yet? I would be curious to see how this boat stacks up to the new 2015 MC w/ Gen 2... Does Supra have their new 2015 stuff up on their website yet?? I haven't rode in a Supra in a few years, so i am still skeptical about their fit and finish / reliability. What is your dealer like in your area?

I am probably one of the few Supra SC owners on here as of yet. I have had several Supra's and this is a totally different ball game. Interior fit and finish and quality is really nothing like the older ones. Totally different ball game. I have always been happy with Supra, but this boat I am totally stoked with. Honestly, get out and demo it and you be the judge yourself. I would put it up against a new Nautique, Malibu, Mastercraft..... In the past they were maybe not quite as nice as the other brands mentioned, but the price was also lower and you got a sold boat at a smoking price. Now the are closer in price, but all of the quality is there. As always don't listen to us with ownership goggles.... Go demo it and I am sure you will agree. I know the MC surf system is similar to the SWELL. The SWELL will go down 90%. The MC system does not, but it simulates this with the lip on the end of the plate. I would think the two systems are pretty similar. The SWELL system does work and we use it alot. I also have a great dealer here in town so it makes it easy to go back.

Rode the supra at the NWWSA comp and was very disappointed in the wave .it is clean with plenty of push but there is no lip the wave is roled over at the top and makes release from the wave for airs and other lip tricks very difficult .JMTC very nice boat though

Harold.... First I have heard that... Was that a consensus amongst other riders as well?
Were you riding goofy or regular?
Extra weight in the boat?
Barrel or Skim?
Any pics of the wave? Curious to see how it stacks up to how ours is set up or other pics I have seen.

I know Trevor Miller was up there and his boat is dialed, so I would assume they had it set up nice. Were you behind his boat (red) or the white one they brought up?

450 (as in it's 450, not 400)... and I agree on waiting for a look at the SE unless there are size requirements.

The 2015's are standard with Ford Raptor 6.2L 400HP. So the 2015s are the 400, 450, and 550, the 2014s were the 350, 450, and 550 when they still used the 5.7L Chevy as the base engine. All of them are starting as a 400 now in 2015, and he's looking at a 2015

We are both correct. The 2014 is 350 or 450 but the 2015 base engine will be a 400.

Ahh, I wasn't even thinking about the 350. That makes sense.

Perhaps the base engine will drive more like the 450 now BC it jumps out of the hole. Chris, I can't imagine the 550! Id love to make a deal but doubt I could swing it.

There is def a big size difference. The smallest and largest boats in their line up. Just wasn't sure if you were looking at the newest supra models or down sizing.

Diggs the boat was a worlds edition with the raptor engine. It was a super nice boat and the wave was nice and clean with enough push it was just missing the lip . I did not get a chance to surf trevors boat but my wife did and said it was much better but I think it had more weight.

I watched the live-stream of the event and the red boat's wake looked pretty much amazing, and the pros looked like they loved it considering how well some of them rode.

For sure test it out, but I don't think you are going to be disappointed!!! I have had my SC450 for 3 months now and love it!! Came from a 2012 Malibu VLX and the fit and finish is much better on the Supra to go along with the performance of the hull. Skiers Choice nailed it!

When i read: "My 2007 X30 is in mint condition and still has low hours." - stay with the X-30 until you really want a Wakesurf System or don't know what to do with the $.

Low hours on a 2007? What do you mean with low hours?

ok, you have use the boat a little bit, not as "bad" i was thinking ;-) - i think the SC is a awesome boat i would consider too (as a owner of a Supra 21v with 315h since 2010), but i don't have any supra dealer at my lake and i learned the lesson. So i'm looking more for are 23 LSV or G21, maybe the new 22 foot malibu coming.. MC are too expensive here, but i think the surf tab2 System from MC ist not bad.

Is there something the Supra can do that your current boat can't do? Are you being held back by the x30? If no, then why upgrade?
Old     (83Starsnstripes)      Join Date: Jul 2013       08-02-2014, 10:21 AM Reply
Being in both boats the SC will drive/handle much better than your current X30. Also, the surf wake is significantly better. Don't take my word for it though, go drive the new SC, but be prepared to leave with it.

The only thing the Supra can do that my 07' can't do is swop surf sides on the fly. I ride goofy and my wife rides regular. Not a big enough reason to support the upgrade, but pretty nice to have. Power driver's seat and the newer looking vinyls are a plus as well. After getting such great feedback and putting a lot of thought into it, I think I'm starting to lean towards keeping my 07' another year or two. It really shouldn't depreciate much so there is no big hurry to make the switch.

Not saying your wrong at all but what is supporting the value of your current boat is new prices go up every year, so if they go up 3 to 5 a year you are about 8 grand less on a 2015 providing the current holds every penny, if yours drops 5 in 2 years (not terrible) then it's 13 diff, on the other hand you will have a 2017 vs 2015. Six one way, half dozen the other

I haven't surfed behind an SC yet, but have been behind a lot of others including a couple of X30's. I have to say the X30 is one of my favorite waves.

New X30 or a 2007 X30 like the OP has? If I remember right that era X30 isn't really known for it's driving or wake performance. I love the interior space of them and the looks though. Great party/family boat with mediocre wake ability.

I've been real happy with the size/push of the surf wake. Here is a shot of the goofy (Starboard) side. This is with stock ballast plus 750 piggyback in the rear locker and 400 under the bow cushion. This is standard pic with 2 adults in the boat including driver. We all know with the right camera angle the wave can look ridiculous. The second shot is port side with about 6 adults and the same weight.

I cringed as well. That said it is his boat so whatever. I don't really get why anybody smokes cigs anymore though. With those Ecig and Vap pens you can still feed the addiction without the disgusting smell, cig burns and chance of burning stuff to the ground.

don't mean to hijack the thread, but am considering a new boat away from my 2010 X15. Love the room of the X15 and I need to stay under 22' for my lift configuration. I am going to test the 15 X10, X30 and the SC400. Feel much better about the Supra dealer in my area than I do the MC dealer. I would probably go to Dallas if I went with MC.

So here is my question, my wife still slaloms. I know the X10 is probably the best of both worlds BUT, does the SC 400 produce a decent slalom wake at say 28-30? Does not need to be the deciding factor as surfing is what we are doing most of now.

Also, love the X15 and it has GSA so it surfs really well but I like the bigger engine options now and also I am tired of filling bags all over the place.

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts and yes I plan to test all of the boats.

Not sure where you live, but I just purchased a new SA from Rinkers in Houston and I test drive a X20, X30 before I made my decision. The SA, SC are every bit as nice inside and out to me. Surf waves are comparable and the wake is better.

Here's a decent video that shows the slalom wake for the SA (about a foot larger than the SC). Their wakes will be pretty similar, and the SA has a pretty good slalom wake for a boat designed to wakeboard and surf. You'll definitely see it when you demo that it's a lot better than you would think.
