I'm having a problem setting up user-level security on a very simple database I wrote. All it does is generate new item numbers (which are a 3-digit commodity code followed by a sequentially assigned number) for our ERP system. We are on a secure server here. I'm a self-taught Access hack, so please go easy on me. Haven't really needed to mess with security settings at all until now.

First question: will the users have to log in each time they open the database, or will it key off of their server login? If it's the former, I'm going to just blow it off anyway because the data isn't sensitive or critical enough to add that step, which would irritate and slow users down.

Assuming you don't have to log into the database itself, I need to set up myself and a couple others as admins, and all other users need to be able to only add and modify data. I've been messing around with the User-Level Security Wizard quite a bit, but every time I finish setting it up, it won't allow me back into the database. I am careful to set myself up as an admin each time, but it claims I don't have permissions to open the db. I'm logged into the server and it knows it's me because I'm automatically populated as a user.

Any help appreciated.
