She's a great wife. She can wakeboard and drive the boat real well for WB and slalom. She's the best cook, takes great care of our kids and she gets along even with my over-grown adolescent WB buddys.

But today I got the opportunity to buy a new 07 SV-211 TE for 49,500$, loaded, w trailer included. She said NO because she didn't like the colour. She wants me to custom order a new one instead, in a colour that she would like. That should cost easily close to 15-20K more.

Is it me?

I agree with 8tens. You must be a newly wed. Nothing my wife says or does surprises me anymore
and the longer you are married the sooner you will realize when she's happy you're happy

Nothing is wrong with the wife. I'd marry her to if she said things like that.

Colors are very important to wives. When I bought my 3 boats color was not even on the list. It always goes by price, condition, and hours. That being said I would never own a black boat.

The real question is "whats wrong with you!!". Its a shot at a new boat, either way its a win. no offense intended...

yellow boats look better on the water than they do on a trailer or in the showroom. My boat is black, white and blue and if I was to custom order a new boat, it may very well be yellow.

I'd buy the boat, save the money and ask for forgiveness which sould be easy to get with $10K for her to spend.

I think that's pretty funny. Here's what you do: Go ahead and pull your panties up and buy the boat anyway. Unless your made of money and don't give a crap about an extra 20K, buy the damn boat.

slipknot.... very, very true.

I have my VLX because the vapor blue matched my wifes Mini Cooper S she had at the time. I wanted the silver VLX but the only way I was getting a VLX over a Vride was buy the vapor blue one which is what I did.

The Mini Cooper turned out to be a lemon she kept 6 months before getting rid of it and I still have a vapor blue and black VLX. I like the color now but I would have never picked it out. Since then I've realized that brightly colored boats (white, yellow, vapor blue) look better than darker colored boats in the water, IMO.

I will never own a black boat again either. I should have known better after having a black car but every Malibu on the floor at the time was black and some other color.

BUY IT RIGHT NOW... looks real nice. then explain she can go shopping with a very nice limit,or tell her she can design a wrap for the boat if she really cant stand it.

I'm not totally crazy about the stripe design but nothing wrong the color combo. That would look good in the water.

Hang on a second, Tyler. Did you say you can make a new colour for it?
Old     (nasty530)      Join Date: Aug 2007       09-27-2007, 6:45 PM Reply
You can have a vinyl wrap done for about $1k that could look like what ever you want. It would be difficult to change colors completely though and you have to watch out for scratches and such. but it could be a possible compromise.

Ha ha. I knew mine was the one for me when as we discussed finances, she commented, "you only sell the boat to get a newer one." Had a blk/white 99 XStar, sold, got another blk/white 01 XStar, sold and boat another blk/white 04 XStar. She rocks, but said the next one is not going to be black. Sounds like yours does too. However, loose the skirt, buy it, and get visit the jeweler and invest a few grand in action that night.

Of course she has to like the color! Mine saw Friday's pink wakesetter and wanted to trade in ours for a new pink one.

Buy it, then apologize . . . it's easier than asking for permission . . .

Buy it...tell her after...that's what i did...she'll come around eventually....if not....trade it in in a few years....

you know naughties hold their value prolly the best, especially if you take good care of it.

More info:

I was kinda hoping for responses like those first ones, only to convince me that spending the extra $$ for an 08 is worth it. Advantages I see include the new Zero-Off (GPS speed control) and a more powerful engine (347 vs 330 HP). Also they fixed a problem with the ballast system (in 07, they fill on their own).

Colour choice, doesn't bother me that much, but I do like the prospect of getting to choose to our own liking.

I figure that with the above and with the gain of a model year I would probably recoup some of that difference in the resale.

As a married man myself, I would buy it. She probably knows that men dont listen to women all the time. The wrap is always a good move to change the look. 15-20K is huge, this is way too good a deal to pass IMO.

If youre set on buying a nautique, get the 210 or 220. The 211 wake is not nearly as good.

You should do what i did, I went out and bought it. When I pulled into my driveway, she asked what was that for(talking about the boat), I told her "Demo" That was two years ago...

Loose the skirt and buy the boat

you can probably get a better deal on the new boat now, since its almost oktober, they dont want to sit on new boats all winter either!!! plus you can probably get cheaper financing on the new boat than the used one!???!

UPDATE:

We decided on ordering an '08, so we're passing on this one. So long as we're buying new, might as well get it custom ordered.

However, I still do think that this '07 is a smoking deal, so I hope that one of you will want to catch the opportunity. It is a BRAND NEW boat. It is located in NY state. I know that this dealer really MUST sell it by a certain date, so I want to give him my support.

If anyone is interested, please PM me and I'll give you the dealer's contact info.

Santa. Next time tell her with the difference in money you will take her to Europe. It worked for me, and the trip will be less than 5k.

I know a dealer with a used SV-211 that's the same color combo above but with blue instead of orange that has a sweet deal on it. I think it's in the low 40's. I would have got it but at my age it's hard to find the financing for such a big toy w/ only a years worth of credit.

I can find out more info if you're interested.
