So you think that living in Texas or in Florida is a big deal? Well, check this pic out. Who says you can't ride in October here in Canada?

That's one of the reasons I moved from Montreal to Texas 15 years ago... What your doing takes some serious commitment.

If I EVER had to get into a dry suit, that will be the day my season is over.

I live in Michigan and have wakeboarded in October but it is not enjoyable. It's more like survival. You end up worrying about not falling instead of just riding. When you get back in the boat you just want to stick your feet and hands in a bucket of warm water. I was in Florida last week and was wondering why I'm not living down there. If it weren't for my daughter in high school and son in middle school, I'd be there!! Oh well. I just snow ski and play hockey to pass the time until wakeboading season starts!!

The pic is actually from last year, October 30th to be more precise. We actually had a warmer than usual summer last year, and this is why we were able to ride so late and that you still see leaves on the trees. This year is a more "normal" year, and we've done our last ride Oct 15th. Can't recall exactly what temp was like on this picture, but this year on our last day water was at around 10C (I think that's about 50F). We've ridden (and even skied (read: @30 MPH)) at air temps around 4C (that's 40F). I'm going to a WB camp next week in Fla. I think that it's a little smarter than what I did last year. FYI - riding location on that pic was the St-Lawrence seaway near the Champlain bridge between Montreal and Brossard. (Message edited by santa on October 19, 2006)

Rode OWC on Sunday and my only complaint was how warm my feet got in the 2007 closed toe Murrays, lol!

Pete- you're profile looks all too familiar... same home lakes, and recognized your boat We went out on Orchard in Michigan the week before the first snow flurries (2 weekends ago??), and although the air was about 65, the water was coooold. Time to pull out the snowboard gear!

Michigan riding in october is really cold. I was out oct 30th last year and i had the boat in the first week of april when air was 48 and the water was 44. That was the coldest i have ever ridden in.

Roddyrod- Yes I saw your profile about a week ago and was going to e-mail you. Yeah, I think I'm done for the season as it's been way too cold. I was out in late September and remember seeing you out on Orchard Lake. It wasn't too cold at all then. Now I'm sure it's freezing with all the cool weather and rain we've had this month. I hooked up with 4 guys that love going out boarding. Unfortunatly it was in August so I only was able to ride with them for about a month. Looking forward to boarding with them next year. One lives on Commerce Lake and two live on Elizabeth Lake. All have Malibu or Mastercraft wakeboard boats so it's nice. I can let you know next year if you want to join us. They typically go out 2 - 3 times a week. Or if you go out and need a 3rd let me know. We'll have to hook up in Boyne City next year to ride as not too many people like to get up early to ride. I'm with you, getting ready for ski season at Boyne Mountain. Drop me an e-mail if you want. Pete

Troy Mann, The latest I've ridden was October 30th several years ago. It was sunny and 70 that day but the water was freezing cold. Had to wear a dry suit. Typically I only go out a few times if at all in October.

I know what you mean. I live in the Canary Islands of the coast of Africa and the other day 16th October we went boarding. IT was horrendous, it must have been 85 degree air temp with 75 degree water. I almost dehydrated and got sun stroke while on the boat for five hours!!!!!LOL
