I was in buddy's A24 the other night and when we went to fill the front ballast tank it was acting like the tank was already full and seemingly sending the water straight to the overflow and out the side of the boat. We tried emptying the tank making sure that it wasn't some how already full and water stopped coming out. There should not be any water already in it. Could there be something blocking the fill line making it react like the tank is already full? If so, has anyone had a similar problem or any experience in clearing these lines? Could it be something simpler that we are somehow missing? Thanks for any suggestions. Cheers

Does your buddy have the front ballast bag installed? It would be under the seats in the bow. If not, the "Front" ballast will simply pump water in, then out of the boat because it has no ballast bag to fill.

x2.... has he used the bow ballast successfully yet? From the factory the bow ballast is just a fill pump, drain pump, and all the lines (fill, drain, and vent) and they fill and vent lines are looped together until you install the front sack.

If you have the sack installed, then pull the bow seat cushions out and watch to see if it is filling at all, check the hoses and make sure it is all routed correctly.

also, the only ballast "tank" in the front is the "center" tank on your switches. The "front" or "bow" (not sure the label on the new A24's) will be your sack that is optional. The center hard tank is standard and is more center-front... starts at the walk thru even with the drivers feet and continues far into the bow.

If that is the tank you are referring to, then it is possible that it filled on its own from driving, so it could be full all the time. When you go to "fill" it, it vents immediately because it is already full. How long did water come out when you hit "drain"? the big pumps and 1 1/8 hoses drain that 500 hard tank very quickly, about a minute or so. You can pull the access cover at the drivers feet and that will give you very limited access to the rear of the center hard tank, you should be able to light it up to see if the tank is full or not.

good luck
