Who has the best wake for all ages from 5 to 55

I am in the market for a new boat. i have young kids that wakeboard. I am looking for a wake that I can adjust from small to big if there is such a thing. any input would be great. I want a boat 22' to 24'

all of them will do this. but you may be looking for something like a wedge. so billy has something.

supra 22ssv or 24 will do the job. you can adjust the wake plate or the bags to make the perfect wake or anyway you want it.

i'm pretty sure you can adjust the wake plates and ballast on any boat. Dirk demo every boat out there. make sure that the dealer will back the boat up too. your boat is only as good as the dealer that sells it.

Tige 22Ve. Coming up on 3yrs with ours and love it. Great family oriented, multi-use boat. Deep free board means it's safe for the little ones. Heavy, deep V hull handles chop like it's nothing. With the Convex V hull and TAPS, you can go from boarding to skiing with the push of a bottom.

Tige puts out a great wake without ballast, but I'd say get it anyway as the wake just gets better with weight. Especially for surfing.

Hi Dirk. I'm 50 and have kids 4, 8, and 11. These are the things I found really useful for my small kids, and me.

You need the boat to drive very slow with a small smooth wake. That means light weight and having a wakeplate. The wakeplate and bow ballast really helps getting the bow down at slow speeds to make the wake better. If you can tow a wakeskater or boarder at 11-14 with a smooth wake it never hurts when they fall. My son 8 was jumping wake to wake at 16 mph, after two solid months, but still slows down for tricks.

You need to feel very safe in rough water and the boa bet easy to drive. That means you or your wife aren't worried or concerned what ever comes. It also means you won't have problems if the normal driver isn't there for some of the time. Take the time to learn how to parallel park when you get it.

Kids can surf behind a boat with little wake and they really enjoy that part of the sport.

My Sanger D215 with a hydraulic wakeplate and built in sacks probably goes from small to big better than most. The V drives can all do it but it's a little easier with a D drive. The V drives can give a bigger wake if your are an advanced rider.

Whatever you do Demo a bunch of boats. They are all different but most of the new ones are very good at everything. You do need to remember that bigger boats are heavier and some brands are heavier. Heavy boats don't give small wakes. Good luck

Pick a Company..........they all have 22-24, its like ford or chevy, malibu or mastercraft.
Definetly get a v-drive. Last- Customer Service.

i agree with art as much as everyone says to get a 22 + foot boat, but the wakes just wont clean up on those under 21+ mph. I have a v210 sanger my wake cleans up at 18 mph perfect on both sides. I like the bigger wake and 23mph riding and she likes a clean wake at 18mph. I am looking for a new boat that will be a step up but still keep a clean wake for everyone. I have looked at san 210, sanger v215, and the vlx. I think the vlx is the biggest boat that will still throw a clean wake under 20mph

I don't know if you are looking for a new or used boat but, like a few others on here, a 21'(or so) might be what you are looking for...
With your youngest, 5?, I would say a smaller boat would be very helpful. I have a friend of the family who is 8 and with our 04' 210team two people and no weight the wake is still large in comparison to him. We are still able to get a clean wake at a speed that is not frightening for him. But when we want to ride sink the boat and you have a wake machine.
CC210, MC X-1, and Bu VLX are a few that pop in mind... I have ridden behind all of these boats, and they can all make a wake for any level of rider. They will not take the chop as well as the 22'-24' boats and the interior space is limited.

Also be a responsible buyer and demo with your whole family. My family was going to get a MC but after the demo experience we chose CC. It is a good way to see how your dealer will treat you.

X-1 .... great all around boat, get a demo for cheap

The X-15 would be a good boat to add to your list also, you can option it with a trim tab to help crisp up the wakes for kids but even without one the wake is clean down to pretty slow speeds.

As stated earlier check out the dealer too. Check to see what their commitment is after the sale. Things to look for are do they stock parts, do they have a dedicated mechanic(s), is the mechanic(s) certified by the engine marinizer, do they have good or bad reputation with current owners?

I will also say the there are several boats out there that will suit you.


Art couldn't have explained it better. My choice would be Supra 21v 22SSV-24SSV. Rock solid boats with tons of adjustably with the wake. Huge deep cockpits so never feel like you're going to get wet or unsafe with little one's in the boat(I have 2 so know how you feel). Supras also ride very smooth and you cann hide all the ballast so no room is lost on the floor from extar sacs.

I say this all while owning an X-Star. Same hull as current X1 that Nick recommends. I personally would never recommend that boat to anyone looking for a "family" boat and adjustability. It's cramped, rides poor, in rough water, and needs extra sacs or lead and storage is tight enough as it is, but it does throw one of the sickest wakes out there. It suited us well when we bought it and still does, but if I were to upgrade which is probably gonna be coming soon for more room and a better ride. I would go Supra all the way. Can't beat the performance and quality for the dollar there.

x 30 is a great all around boat, the wake has a nice shape with and without ballast full, and with or without extra weight, i would definantly recommend an x 30, it is for sure one of my favorite boats to ride behind

Dirk - you are getting good reports here on Supra, but I also want to give the all new 2008 Moomba XLV a good review from Skiers Choice. Not only does it meets your boat size requirements at 23 feet, but the new hull design went right to the heart of your question. Here are the top 4 reasons why

First, For the the 5 year old in mind the new 2008 hull increased lifting strakes up front to get that huge bow out of the water. This really cleaned up the wake at slower speeds. I drove at the dealers meeting and you could really tell the difference.

Second, For hard core riders, significant tweaking of its hull design to increase the size of the wake it throws while cleaning up the wake lip.

Third is ballast. This boat comes standard with 1950lbs right from the factory. Thats at least 50% more than what the other brands give you.

Moomba Mobius LSV - almost 22' with more room in it than most 22' boats. The configuration is uniqe because the engine is placed forward of the transom abought 14", changing the centre of gravity and allowing the wake plate to alter the angle of the boat relative to the horizontal plane. The design gives the operator more control of the wakes from small to extremely large with ballast. Also great surf hull.
