Can anyone give me a good comparison of the wave and wake between a Supra SR and a 2015+ Axis A22?

You are comparing the top of the line of one brand with the entry level of the other. Maybe go Axis / Moomba or Supra/ Malibu.

And what does that have to do with comparing wakes

I wouldn’t give the Malibu any better standings over the Axis wave wise.

It is hard to give any boat the edge over an axis wake wise...

All I’m just looking for a comparison of the wave and wakes, not opinion on brand. I’m curious if the Supra SR wake/wave is as good/better/worse than the A22. Maybe no one has firsthand experience yet with the SR vs the A22 as the Supra is a relatively new model?

I cant give you any info on the Axis wake. I own a 17 SR and to me it puts out a great wakeboard wake. I have only wakeboarded with stock ballast (3300lbs) and it is plenty big enough for me. This is the only picture I have of the wake, it doesn't do it justice.

I have ridden both. The A22 will take tons of weight to get the wakeboard wake where you want it, but when you get about 4k in it (which will require upgrading sacks in the back and putting a sack in the bow on top of the seats or tons of lead) you will love it. As for the SR you will only need 400-600 lbs extra (lead or sacks) to get the wake where it is jam up.

The wakes will be slightly different. Axis will be more of a ramp and the SR will be a little more steep, but noting to shy away from. When comparing the two it will come down to preference on the wake. However when you throw in the ease of setting up the SR and the outstanding interior of the Supra its a no brainer.

Agreed the SR is a hidden gem in the 21' boat range. Loved the 2017 and the new 2018 with power tower, upgraded surf system, new 6 pump ballast, is even better!

I am sure one of the g owners will soon chime in soon to say get a g. The Supra looks sweet

Not sure I agree with this. The cool thing about the A22 is it always has the same shape. Whether your riding slower at 65/70 feet with less weight, or 80 feet slammed to the max you always get the same shape. You certainly don't have to run it slammed, and since the plug-n-play ballast system is a option on the boat, all you have to do is get the 450 rear sacks and plug them in, and add either a sack or lead under the walkthrough cushion to compensate for the wedge and rear weight. We often ran the rear 450s half full.

You do not have to run 4000 pounds in the A22 to get a great wake. 2500 pounds and the wedge gets you a meaty wake that most people will love.

Yes the best part of the axis hull is the consistency and wake size with relatively little weight

I run about 3,300-3,500 lbs plus the wedge in my 15’ A22 and I love the wake.

The wake is still really good with less weight, but I like my wakes real thick and juicy...

I have heard a lot of good things about the new A22. I ride all the time on a 2011 or 12 one with the 350 hp motor and when we slam it with the wedge down it takes a bit to get out of the hole but its very big and consistent. I'm wondering what the new hull with the pcm 409 is capable of wakeboarding wake wise. What's it like slammed? When I say slammed I mean maxed out! Compared to the a22 old hull and the second gen star for reference would be greatly appreciated. And yes I plan on getting on one to see for myself soon.

We have t22 with 409 and 1235 prop. We run factory ballast, 650 nose bag, 450 rears and wedge. This is the 1.5X drive not the 1.7X driveline so it does decent with this set up. Wedge kicking in creates some serious drag...

I have not ridden the older a22 but have ridden more or less everything else under the sun, including a newer a22. T22 is a bit closer to the xstar because its not as lippy a wake as the A. Star is longer and firmer though. I'd guess they're close to the same size if we are talking a star with PWT weight.

I wish the SR was more popular to chime in to this thread. It's truly a fantastic wake out of the box and worth a demo if you get a chance.

Dang that's weird you say that because the 2011 a22 I ride isn't lippy at all. In fact id say it was flat but very consistent. So if the new hull makes it kick a bit more then that's good in my book.

And yes I'm talking pwt weight in the star slammed to the gills. The one's I ride take forever to get out of the hole but the wake are as big as you can really ask for. If the new A22 can produce that wake and also surf and be reasonably priced then I guess I get what all the hype is about when it comes to Axis...

Stephen, if you are asking about the ZR409 power specifically, I have one in my 24ft boat, running 5k lbs of ballast. Granted I am only at 800ft elevation, but with my surf prop, I have power for days and have never run out even when full ballast and 6-8 people. Typically surf at 11mph and engine runs at 3400rpm (great fuel consumption too, 4.5 GPH average and that is 80% surf time). Its a great engine and unless at high altitude will push any boat with any weight without issue. Am sure it would be incredible in A22

I have the 409 in my 15' A22 with a 2419 prop.

It doesn't have any trouble planing with 3k+ lbs & wedge down. You just need to make sure you're running enough bow weight if you have big PnP rear bags, or a lot of people in the boat.

the 409 is awesome and it is not too loud either.

Like a lot already said compare Supra with axis is a bit unjustified. But if you compare JUST the wake I’m not a big fan of Axis surf wake. For wakeboard axis is my top boat. With that said, for surfing I don’t like the axis feeling. Too much restriction with the surf gate and the wedge down it sacrifice too much push for me. But it’s perfect for skim.

I really liked the Supra, like someone said here Supra SR is really a hidden gem.
Moomba always been a good, affordable towboat brand and they still are.
I prefer the Supra Swell system over Surf gate but it’s really a matter of preferences.
Demo both you gonna see by yourself

The SR is rocking the same hull as the SA which pulls the pro wakeboard and pro wakesurf tour, so I’d say it’s worth a demo. Not to mention you get a boat from a brand that takes great care in every boat they build instead of pushing out 14 boats per day and letting their dealers deal with all the problems that creates. Just my .02

2016, hull didn't change much for 18, the boat just got taller and heavier.
