So, the previous owner of my boat used bags of concrete mix wrapped in duct tape as ballast to suppliment bags.
I have never been a huge fan of this stuff, but he gave me his solid ballast and it was free with the boat, so why not take it.
It pretty much sat in my garage for the first season of owning my boat...
Over the winter, I had to remove my gas tank to access my rudder and replace the rudder packing rope. When I accessed under the gas tank, I noticed some "dead space" that was almost the exact size of the concrete bags. I figured a couple bags low in the corners couldn't hurt...
If anyone is local to the Portland/Vancouver area, I can hook you up with any of the 4 remaining bags of concrete mix...
So, I added one to each corner. They fit perfect. I think they weigh about 60 pounds each. So I can deal with 120 pounds of permenent ballast...
