Anyone ever done this or know if it's been done?
Obviously the trailer won't fit, and the boat would have to go in at an angle of about 45 degrees.
I've seen pics of a G23 being shipped that way, so you'd say it has to be possible, but I'd love to hear from people that have done this.
Thanks!

If you trust in God and in shipping companies workers also - yes. But no one give you insurance for this delivery. Any damage on your hands. Do you know how boat will go in and out from container? My guess you don't have to see this.

My friend has shipped slalom inboards back and forth to/from New Zealand in shipping containers. It has been pretty straight-forward, but that was because the trailer fit so he has been able to just roll the whole thing in there and then secure it. You might have some engineering to do it you plan to get in in there without the trailer. Good luck with it. I know it was insured but don't know the specifics.

Interesting idea?
What if you had a Trailer that rolled the boat sideways like how they trailer Off Shore boats?

I like that idea G! Gonna be complicated though, looks like it'll be shipped on the trailer, RORO (Roll on roll off).
Thanks guys!

I would get some custom rollers made up. Set the boat on them and roll on and off. Make sure they are built strong to hold the boat the whole time during shipping.

I am an Axis dealer in the UK so all our boats have to cross oceans to get to us, back in the day, ski boats were shipped in containers but these days no way.

All shippers offer a roll on roll off service so the boat on its trailer just gets shipped as is. It's no big deal. All Malibu do for us is shrink wrap the boat, that's all the protection it needs.

Is there a particular reason you need to ship via container?

Yeah, several reasons actually. It'd be much cheaper if it would fit in a container, the shipping itself I mean. Then for some reason import duties would be lower, plus it would not have to stay for several days in the port, which is notorious for theft of everything that's not solidly attached to the boat.
Not going to happen though. Shrinkwrapped on the trailer, ro/ro it shall be.

A friend of mine in the Philippines had a couple boats in a container get dropped about 5 foot vertical...smashed everything up and he is still trying to get insurance to pay out two years later

supposedly this is the reason why they built the NXT 20 to a narrow beam. Makes sense now with the outboard option out... Good Luck!
