09 vs 08 Transcend Platty

Is there a big difference between these boards?
I know that the 09 is a bit wider than the 08.
But the 09 is much more expensive.
Anyone?

2009 Wider and heavier from what I understand from Sean at Off Axis. The 2008 is produced in the good ole USA!!!!! The 2009's were made somewhere else from what I hear. 2009's are faster than the 2008 models

I know the center spine on the 09 goes from tip to tail, the 08 doesn't, meaning the 09 is supposed to land softer.

The 08 its about 300 dollars and the 09 like 500.
is the 09 worth it? The differences don´t seem to be so big.
Anyone ridden it yet?

The 09 lands a ton softer, I was not a huge fan of the 08 and love the 09!! In my opinion the weight is not a huge deal breaker, I ride the foam version (as does Andrew Adkison) and it rides great. Both year boards are good, but IMO the 09 far exceeds. Softer landings, little more pop, little faster, SOLD!!!

the 09 is worth it. softer landings and more pop. enough to make me switch from the marius. such a sick board.

I've been riding the 07/08 shape for the past few years. Foam core. I had a platty but broke it. I actually like the foam core better. I got the 09 foam and rode it for the first time last week. I would say it was noticeably faster still had good pop and soft landing. I'm happy with the 09. Both boards are good but the 09 is a little better.

Tony switching from the Marius!!! Interesting.

I actually thought the new Transcend inherited some of the Marius characteristics. The wider tip/tail, and the tip to tail spine give it a similar feel.

I am looking at this board too. I'm 6'1 165. Should I go for the 138? Why does everyone like the foam over the platinum core. I am coming from an 03 absolute platinum and liked the feel of that board.

Jonathan, I'd get the 142 if I were you. I'm a little guy, only 5'8" 150 and I ride the 138 but almost want to get the 142.

People like the foam version more because it lands a little softer, is a bit cheaper, is a little more durable and personally I like the blue glitter sparkles on the black background. But that's just me...

Ride the 142 Big Heavey....im the same size and the 42 is where it is at! Way more pop and pillow landings
