saw rusty doing it in a video trailer here (cant remember which one), but I've been trying to get my wife to drive that when I finish a set.

so, hows it done? I've been trying to have her sling me out healside, then cut back and stop, but I never make it back to the boat.

any ideas?

maybe leave it to Rusty. It looks sick and I guarantee with enough practice you could do it but in all reality its pry a tish dangerous...

On that note have your wife drive it like an aorund the world but just kill it early... Id say its 40% driver 60% rider. Best of luck!!! ;)

Saw that too and tried to figure it out in my mind. I'm not trying it but it sounds like you got the same idea I did. Maybe get slung out a bit harder and have her cut back a touch more. Either way, we'd sink with our rooster coming in the back stopping that fast!

It doesn't hurt that he probably rides a lot faster than you do - more speed to sling in to the boat.

Are you sure he wasn't riding up to the platform of a chase boat?

No, DJ was correct it shows him whipping out and riding right back into the boat.

That is pretty sweet....I think the driver has to cut the throttle at the right time as well..

I think were doing it right, and cosmocat is right, its all about when the driver cuts the throttle. scary thing, is that its apparently much later then you would expect.

i.e. sling the rider, cut back, count to? 5-6? cut the throttle.

its a little scary seeing the boat come at you like that :-)

oh, and btw, if rusty can do it, I can do it lol!

I think it was the "Rusty Returns" video. The one he did when he first came back on scene.

The S needs to be quick. I am regular footed so I have my driver turn hard right slinging me out on my heels, once he sees that I have started the actual slingshot he turns hard left and cuts the throttle.

I don't remember what the post was called, but I know it was in the video that was shot for his last wakeboarding mag cover.

Sounds similar to "around the world" but the goal is to get the rider to the boat instead of around it.

I saw Lyman do this in one of the pull episodes. He was riding in a river infested with alligators.

I remember that episode. Those gators were all over, no way I would be riding in there as much as i crash.

Tried this today. We made it happen second attempt. It's not as hard as it seems but it's pretty much all driver.

Definetly a driver trick 60% driver 40% skier. Just make sure your life insurance is paid up before trying it and please name me as the benificery. Consequences to high for failure. but have fun trying.

So the driver cuts to the left to swing the rider out then straightens back out, then cuts the throttle? Is that about it for the driver? And the straightening back out before cutting the throttle is to get further ahead so the rider isn't having to back track much after the swing huh. The riders part would be just edging hard out then taking a mellow turn back in (sharp cut in would lose speed), then just trying to not sink before you get there I'm guessing. Since I'm on the water now I'm gonna give it shot ;)

This would be extremely useful for our river, dusk is the best time to ride but it's also feeding time for a crap ton of gators...and BIG ones at that! And yes it's feeding time right now haha

I dont think this would be an issue for me, because I never just get tired and let go to quit riding. Me ending a set = me falling.
