I was wakeboarding yesterday and my boat died. I checked the battery connection and they were all tight. I decided to come in. On the way in I could feel the boat sputter. I mean it would lose power and then come back on. It didn't completely died again though. I have started it up again without any problem. To those that are experienced doe that sound like a fuel filter or fuel pump and how do you tell if it is one or the other. I have a supra launch 2005. It had 295 hours on it when I bought it. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a fuel pump. Check your filters first though.

My 2002 Supra had a similar issue that ended up being the cannon plug (main engine harness plug) coming loose. The boat would die completely then wiggling any wire attached to the harness would remake connection. Caused the gauges to act up too.

Sounds more like fuel but something to check. That one was a nightmare to troubleshoot.

Rent a fuel pump gauge and check on the fuel rail with engine on and with just key on. If it's not in your motors parameter its fuel related. Could also be tps sensor, iac valve,or anti syphon valve. Sputtering more often is electrical imo. And check every power and ground connection. If any are dirty or loose clean and fix.

Ever done a fuel filter and/or separator?
did the engine die completely or just stumble and bit then power back up? easy to restart?
