Alright guys I'm looking at a 2000 Tige 21v for my first real boat. The boat has 900 hrs on it but the engine was replaced 100 hrs ago because of faulty winterization. The gel coat and interior are in good shape. I have the guy down to $13500. Good deal?

Also I understand that there are alot of Tige haters on the board.

Just take the fruity bimini top off and your good. You should also replace the tower due to cracking issues but even with a tower purchase the price is very right.

Thanks Brock,
I have been trying to do a lot of research and finding a V-Drive that wont put me on the street has been difficult. I figure with a tower and speakers I should be able to get into it for around $16,000.

What makes me a little leery is the boat is winterized and I cannot drive it. It is also 700 miles away, so I want to make sure I'm making a good purchase. What should I be looking for?

I would wait a few months if you could, maybe put down like a deposit to hold it until it warms up and you can take it for a spin? WInterizing a v-drive also is not serious work so depending on where you live you could even recommission it, splash it, and re-winterize it.

Find a dealer close to the seller and have him take the boat in for an inspection. Do not purchase it without.

13.5k for a 2000 21 foot vdrive. That is a great deal. I would def. have a mechanic take a look at everything. If the boat's gel and vinyl are in good shape then the boat has been taken pretty good care of. Find out if they just replaced the long block, short block or did a drop in Mercruiser. The tower on those boats is known to be very crappy but that is not a big deal for that price. Spend 1500 on PerfectPass, 1000 on ballast and you are set.

I love my Tige, but I am sorry I know nothing about that model. You may be able to get more info on Tigeowners.com

They did a long block and it comes with 2X 550lbs sacks and a Tsunami pump.

I tried Tige owners but didn't really get any feed back.

Thanks Guys its sounds like i found a deal.

I have buddies that own 21v's and they are great boats! Good for surfing, wakeboarding, etc... Great rough water rides. I think that is an amazing deal and you could most likely make money on the boat if the economy ever turns around:-)

I have that boat, but a 99. Absolutely love it. We paid 8500 more for ours, with about half the hours. Looks like a good deal

Mark,

Give me a call here at the factory 325-676-7777 and I will run the Hull Number for. I will be able to answer any of your questions or find someone who can.

Thanks,

If the lakes aren't froze over, put it in the water and sea trial it. If the owner is ready to sell and is confident the boat is in solid condition, he should not have a problem doing it. If it performs as advertised, the he will not have to worry about rewinterizing it, that would be your problem

That is a great price for a great boat!

I love my 99 21V! The only thing Im not real impressed with is the goofy looking tower. People talk about them breaking the welds, mine has held up well so far. If you weight the boat it makes a beautiful wake. You can surf behind it too! Does it have Perfect Pass? Might as well count that in on the price of the boat. Its a must have. If you have any questions about the boat I can help you with just let me know.

Looks like a nice boat but that tower is awful. Sounds like you're thinking the same and going to replace it. I think you'd be ahead on resale if you did so as long as the boat has been taken care of.

Looks like I'm going to be the proud owner of a Tige if everything pans out when I get there.

Thanks Guys

I own an 01 21V- got it new and it's been a great boat. The tower issue is over-played. I have the original tower- although Metcraft beefed it up in 01- so it's worked fine. Perfect pass is a must- The only issue I ahve had is the vinyl- drill extram vent holes in the big cushions and they'll be fine, but I have replaced the vinyl for the three back seats - great boat for the price...

Will,
Is there anything in particular that I should be looking at for trouble spots? Mechanical or otherwise? Any spots in the gel coat that were troublesome?

Thanks

Check out all the swtiches on the dash. I had a 2000 just like that and all the buttons on the dash went out (blower, lights, bildge, etc) and had to be replaced with the rocker style switches. Interior will be the only other problem I know of with that boat. The tower does its function, it doesnt look good and it does shake/rattle a LOT especially when it has speakers, boards, bimini up.

Just saw the dash in the pics, it looks like they have already been replaced.
